Max your not going to get to the 55mph club with out a cam and heads, the guys that claim to be there are also in small boats like reids and not in the top of the line models like ours.

79....I know, this is where you tell me that I'm full of $hit and that I have bullsh*t ideas on hp gains and that I am talking out of my a$$ but my boat is running 54 now and I dont think that 1mph is that far fetched!
with THIS tweak and I have 2 others that are going to add to the performance. I know I am doing it the hard way without the heads and the cam but i am going to get all the add on parts out of the way first! |

MM, I dont see how you can be running 2MPH faster than '79 without heads or a cam. Seems like it would take a lot more than high CR, roller rockers, intake and ignition to get you into the mid 50's. Have you verified with GPS? What prop are you running? What RPM are you at?

MM that's funny since I order the Chrome intake I've been looking into plating shops and add ons too, then I thought this could get out of hand and cost a few bucks. IT's that K&N kick'n in that extra 3 mph right

Getting this thread back on track, we have a little more than 4 short months to the 2nd annual Green Lake Reunion. While checking with hotels within the greater GL area, they are filling up fast for summer. Pleople are making plans and solidifying them..
If you are serious about attending this great event weekend, please register and get your accommodations in line.. If you are thinking on bringing an RV, I can help locate the secondary sources outside of town. I've been told the main campgrounds RV section is full. So, those lurking, wondering, jockeying for time off, and really want to go this summer then please register. It help with the final coordination of events, dinner, etc. And as Alan has eluded to, it helps with the sponsorship donation that make this event much more fun.. So lets support Keith, the sponsors and the CCFan.com site by registering today... 14 boats is nothing. If members from as far away as Kansas City, New England, North Carolina and Florida can make it, so can you dozens of member from Wisc, IL, In and Ohio.... That is all <--------Mojo out |

I must admit I briefly read the blarney race rules and considered taking the new stroker out of the 83 and putting it into the lightened up 67 mustang for the trip dropping in some race gas cranking up the timing, and ah screw it sounds like a lot of work...
I think I am about ready to bite the bullet and get signed up with a camping site or two summer gets closer and all my plans/projects are still on hold but worse case scenario I can't get one of my correct crafts done and I have to bring along an outboard... at least then I would be sure to win a top speed contest... |

Joe, I recommend you book a campsite very soon. They were filling up fast with CCFans, and I think they started taking reservations from the general public this week. The email address that Barb from Hattie Sherwood was using is: Rorfield2804@charter.net

Problem is if I don't have at least one if my inboards in the water by then I probably won't be a whole lot of fun to be around... every year I finish with perfectly good working boats, decide what to upgrade and make plans to get parts on order and boats back together and in the water by april 15, then I completely change the plans over the winter after everything is dissasembled, and don't get skiing till mid July at the earliest.
This year the major change of plans is around my trying to purchase some commercial property with a 40x80 garage and a 36x76 two level storage barn. If the deal goes through all my heated workspace needs and storage needs evaporate for the foreseeable future, and the projects can get really serious. But I gave them two months to sell an adjoining property and until then the boats are cold and covered and the finances and plans are on hold. Basically I am waiting around and drinking a lot with hopeful visions of paint booths and tubing benders dancing in my head. ... might as well sign up and get some reservations though, not exactly a huge finacial commitment. -Joe. |

Marshall Morgan has sworn to me that he's in with his little blue Mustang also. I'll work at getting him to register asap. He's getting a new, larger Mopar engine by the way also, so he's wanting a venue to strut his stuff.

Thanks for the complement Alan. She is pretty nice, but nothing compared to some of them I've seen on here. She's in really good shape, but I've got to do either a jbear or an 81nautique on the engine. I'm headed down to the lake tomorrow to get a new steering cable put in her. Stang, I'd love to see you bring that Green Mustang you've got. I'm pretty sure you have that '72 SN Promo also. Another one I'd like to see in person. Come on July! -JMurph |

Alan,
Spoke to Chuck last month and gave him the dates for the reunion, hopefully he will make the trip again with the Paragon. Anybody recall what the total registration count was for GL last year? Currently @ 48 people + 15 boats. |

Word is one tent site left at the camp ground but still a few RV sites. I probably booked one too many tent sites myself just for a little privacy, but if it gets tight I would probably give it up to someone that wouldn't mind a drunken ccfan or two next door.

Pat, Yes, the Atom is up at my home in northern Wisconsin (Three Lakes) so I plan on pulling it home to Northfield after my normal 4th of July week vacation. I will then pull it up to Green Lake for the Reunion. My wife and son will drive down from Three Lakes to Green Lake and meet for the weekend. She, my son and daughter spend the summers up in Three Lakes. I don't know if it's more a vacation for them or myself!!! As summer goes on though, I must say that I do start to miss them.
I tried making resevations (they are probably already booked) at the Bayview but I got a recorded mesage that they are closed down until the 26th (this coming Mon.) |
