Night footing' is fun, but dangerous. Won't do it since my buddy loss the right side of his right foot doing it.

And partial dismemberment is really bad on the interior. It was one of those classic "hold my beer moments" and he crawled out on the boom.

I´ll be on vacation during february, I´m going to uruguay, I´m not taking my boat, so I´ll be boatless

I´m planning on giving this guy a visit just to kill my boat addiction.

ski club in uruguay

he runs a 2008 sn on a private lake....what do you think of the lenght of the course around 2100 ft..its a little short for BF? is it? Is the turning around the island a challenge?
or better do some ski and wakeboard?

Seb;

2100 feet should be fine. I believe the Blue Moo is about 2500 feet, so 2100 feet might feel a little short but defintiely ski-able. When we ski the Blue Moo, plenty of time to get up work on tricks and then end your run. Looking at my videos most runs are just under 1.5 minutes. Nice thing about skiing there is the short runs allow you to ski a lot, get quick feedback and run it again. You don't seem to notice the fatigue, with the quick runs and short breaks while the boat turns around.

2100' is tournament size
here is shortline in elk grove it has under 2000' of ski space
So...you get up, do some tricks for about 20 seconds and you are at the other end.
so you will get an idea what a barefoot tournament feels like

To clarify that, you must be looking at the entire length of the video. I've skied in several tournaments at the Blue Moo and although you're not rushed to set up for the 15 second timed pass, you certainly are not on your feet for a minute and a half. Of course it will depend on boat speed but I'd guess the runs are 30 or 40 seconds long. That may sound short but it really gives plenty of time and as you say allows for feedback when the boat shuts down at the end of each run. It also gives plenty of practice on your starts and you'll usually have ideal water conditions!

Mark, you are absolutely correct. Running a couple of the videos, 30 to 40 seconds is about it. Hmmm, it sure seems like you're skiing a lot longer then that. Also another good point on the water conditions. Even when the wind blows right down the lake, the opposite end is definitely very "ski-able"

On an aside, quick threadjack (sorry), I was up your way last week. We stayed in Watersmeet and were running the trails between Lk Gogebic and Sidnaw and Eagle River and Iron River. Snow was thin, but still had a lot of fun.

Omg, I have laughed so hard I have tears in my eyes. I think if you are serious about footing get yourself a boom or find someone with one. I have found that most of us footers love to share/teach our sport. If you are ever in north Idaho, I will gladly take you for a run.

If I may, check out world barefoot center’s web page. They are a bare footing school in Florida. They instruct and coach footing. If you are anywhere near there go for a lesson.

As for all the other advice, please post your videos. I can’t wait. Good luck.
We all have the need for speed at some point in our lives.

Hey Bill, have you checked out all 64 pages of this thread? There is actually some pretty good instruction (and video's) here. IMHO, I think it is actually more complete and definitely more tailored to the individual's specific challenges then at WBC.

Anyway, welcome to the site (and the thread), I am sure you are like the rest of us in the Northern Half of the US; waiting anxiously for the ice to move out as well as hoping the guys in the southern hemisphere post some video of their exploits. Anxious to see some of your video's too.

If I get to ID, I will definitely give you a call for a ski - great looking Sport too!

Yet another Friday snow storm, foiling my plans for any skiing this weekend. I actually read something about "thunder snow".
