Great idea. Couple of the vintage sled forums do something similar: The buy an old sled, restore it and then auction it off for charity or for site funds. It would be fun to do!

Been down this road already guys.. There are legal ramifications in states all over the country that prohibit this type of game bacause it's a form of gambling. We've done the homework on this for the reunions. No way to hold a nationwide deal like this..... As the "situation" would say.... "Forgetabotit" !!!!

So you are saying every 50/50 raffle is against the law?

No, not at all. Certain states will allow it, some won't. A lot of raffles are done by special, charitable organinizations that get special dispensation for holding what they call "an event"..

I know we could not hold raffles of this magnitude in (dollar scope) in Wisc or in NY where the main reunions have been held...

You can conduct one illegally, but I like my own house and bed where there's no guy named "Bubba" sleeping next to me !!! I believe there was tax implications as well, and as CCFan is not a "non for profit", Uncle Sam would take issue...

We've tried.. Even had bought bought and ready...

Nice looking boat and I'll even throw in that the tower looks pretty darn good on this one. BUT.......

I wouldn't want let Pete down. .....It ain't original, I ain't interested.

Besides, it's too far a drive for this southern boy to go pick it up.

Marty,

Before even opening the link you could that you could guess it was a camp boat.

Wasn't there a hull change from '97 to '98 that changed the wake on those Sport Nautiques?

Don't think so. The deck changed from 97 to 98 namely rear storage lockers were added, and the rear interior was rejigged slightly to suit.

Didn't only the 196's get the TSC hull changes.?

There was a change in the "sport / air hull" when they introduced the Pro Air hull.

Does a '98 Sport's hour meter have a tenth's dial? Whenever I see hours like that I figure they read the meter wrong. 4100 would be like 250,000 miles in a car, probably 2 rebuilds in a ski boat. Anyone else think it might be 410 hours?

Incorrect. The Sport Nautique got its own version of the TSC hull in '98.

I wouldnt doubt that the 4100 hours is correct, as its priced accordingly. I would expect the engine to be somewhat tired, and the interior to be in need of replacing- amongst other cosmetic issues- at that asking price. Might still be a good deal for someone willing to put some time and elbow grease into it though.

2001 Sport Nautique with Ford 351 ???

Is this guy trying to call a Sport Nautique a 2001? Or is he claiming that there is a Ford 351 Motor in a year 2001 Sport Nautique?

Thanks David. When was the switch to the Chevy motors?

This boat is right near me. Think he will trade for a Martinique and some cash?
