Just got back from footin with Willie and Amy. Amy just moved out to Cali and she managed to land very near Willie and the center of all Cali Barefooting. I'll post up a vid in a bit, it was freakin cccold.

Amy's a good footer from back east. Heck she has her own freestyle video!

Ran into a doctor last Wednesday that said he footed the delta out there a lot while in school. Said he was out there when a guys lost both feet in a barefoot accident hitting debris in water.

the delta aka the dirty delta(lovingly)
If you are footing in the delta and you don't see debris...you can't possibly be in the delta!

the spot we skied today we have pulled out a railroad tie, today we got a tire.

kind of funny, I had no idea who Willie was bringing, he just said to bring an extra drysuit for Amy. I did not know who Amy was. If you watched that freestyle video she did you will see that I commented on her vid six months ago...so we get in the boat and I'm thinkin she looks familar, she's Chris and Al Morrison's sister. Small world. Chris has some hot barefoot vids on youtube...Extreme Barefooting

The delta gives us summer days like this too...while folks in the busier parts deal with crowds. 1000 miles of waterways.

Seems I'm having an awkward moment over on the far boom. LOL

nautiques posted that video a few days ago stating it is a 409. Also notice there appears to be some sort of forward brace on the boom, possibly addressing the "can you put a boom on this boat with a removable pylon question"

edit, nevermind, it's a tower boom

It's certainly worth trying to win Chucks money.

We have been considering it but with Barefoot Nationals coming to Calif for 2013 we probably will be too busy trying to practice for the tournament. We'll be 2 eventing (tricks, wakes) I was thinking I might just do a huge sideslide all the way down the lake for fun.

Kap, Almost everything I have ever learned about barefooting was from seeing someone else do it first, on TV, on video and in person. Monkey See-Monkey Do!

you know we will help you learn any trick you want to do and you have the ability so go for it!

that back toe up- keep some bend in each knee, be sure you plant your foot directly under and inline with the rope(scissor your legs) don't let the tow leg get pulled out straight.

The good thing about those (I believe) is that you don't have to be a world class freestyler to be a contender. Tho they are the majority of winners, it also seems footers with average skills, but a great video are contenders too. Comes down to editing, music, "cinematography" angles, styles, novelty...so long as it is entertaining....kind of like Roy's spills and falls video of a couple years ago. That being said, I won't be entering, but no reason you shouldn't give it a shot.

Andy, Ken Derry has a boat shop on the Central Coast just north of Sydney. I nearly purchased a new boat from him before I discovered Correct Crafts, very nice guy. He is a very accomplished wake boarder as well as world class barefooter. In the late 90's he featured in a photo shoot in one of the Ski magazines where he performed a air raley on a wakeskate and landed footing.

I much prefer Amy's video without the drysuits but I imagine barefooting in a bikini could get uncomfortable this time of year.

main barefoot training aids:
John Gilette's book Barefooting vol 2....or vol 1 if you can't find 2
Steve Merrit's DVD is done with a BFN featured and Steve is an awesome barefooter and teacher.
Barefoot International Mike Siepel's tape/dvd
There is a Scarpa tape too and it is also BFN

these are all very good teaching/learning aids that every barefooter that wants to do more than just hang out in the curl needs to own a copy of each and watch it from time to time because you "get" things at different times as you become more aware of different aspects of footin.

He's also super at barefoot slalom so I thought it interesting that he did not do any barefoot slalom in the Nautique 200 video.... I wonder what the wake looks like at 45?

I have copies of both 1 and 2 (signed by John). Edition 1 was my bible in the 80s. I didn't know any other footers back then and taught myself deep water starts, tumble turns, tumble ups and a fe other things through Johns book 1. Great guy. I have spoken with him a couple times and invited him to Reid's get togther last fall (he lives in Charlotte), but he had an alumni reunion at Sea World that weekend.

I was surprised you still referenced his books in this day and age when there are 29 billion video aids out there, but I enjoy having them for the nostalgia of it. Those were fun times for me and John's book was a huge part of it.

I'm not in a big hurry to let one of mine go, but I think I might be able to help you out with an Ed. 1. Should be able to get it to you before your season wraps up if I can make it happen. Give me a couple weeks.

Yes, that one does have some cool angles. I see the camera boom in several shots, but still not sure how they got soem of them, like when the camera wraps around the footer. Good video.

I have skied with John at the New Years Day Tournament and he is always nothing short of a gentleman and always willing to give advice or suggestions. John has agreed to work with me on my barefoot progression (think backwards) and I hope to be able to take him up on this offer this summer.
