I am asking for help in mod-ing a trailer. I bought a trailer for my 1974 Southwind 20. As most of you know, a Southwind 20 is a deep vee design. this trailer was originally for a 23 foot Wildcat. A Wildcat has some vee to it, but nowhere near as much as a Southwind 20 or any of the CC deep vee designs. Can anyone help?

What kind of help are you looking for? The original trailer that came under the 20' Southwind was very simple. It has two fixed bunks and a carpeted keel guide/support. There is a steel tube stop assembly bolted to the trailer that is invariably bent from power loading the boat. There are trailers pictured in the reference section.

Well, I guess I am looking for the magic answer. Would a photo of the trailer help you out in helping me? Say, Craig your name is familiar. Don't I know you from somewhere?
Seriously, let me know if a picture would help. I have about a half dozen of them. |

No Tony, I don't believe we've met. Maybe this description will help you out:
The rear stationary bunks are all the way out to the edge of the outer chine. They are approximately 6’ long. The angle at the top of the bunk is very shallow, maybe 5 degrees or less. By positioning the bunks under the outer chine, the vee doesn't come into play. The only place it does is at the keel support up front where the keel starts the transition to the bow. Like I said earlier, it is a very simple trailer. In this shot, its the 3rd trailer from the left. http://www.correctcraftfan.com/reference/1975_brochure/index.asp?page=29 Good luck. |
