Your boat may not blow up if it is properly installed, as in backfire ......

If the old arrestor is clean and not damaged, there are really only 2 reasons I can think of to replace it.

1) Looks.

2) Clearance. When you add a taller intake manifold, you may encounter motorbox clearance issues, which can be addressed in part by installing a shorter arrestor.

If youre looking for a performance upgrade, save your money. Arrestors in general arent very restrictive and you wont see a noticeable gain by swapping it out (or even running without one).

Like Doc alluded to, always use a USCG approved arrestor (not an air filter). Like its name suggests, it will contain flames in the event of a backfire.

sounds good now that my interior is almost finished i kind of have the bug. Just thinking of things I can approve on the boat...
