I am looking to see if I can find a Acme 542 to gain a bit more RPM and hole shot from my 76 Mustang. I currently have a 540 on it right now.
Thanks!! Jeff.. |

Jeff, Do you think the 542 will have any effect on your famous power turns?? Glad to see you are still around!

Wow, a Jeff Kostis sighting!
Jeff, I think the 542 would give you more holeshot, but you should really be seeing more WOT RPM than you are with the 540. Is it still pinging a bit? I would have guessed you could turn that prop close to 5500 RPM, so if youre still only getting 5k, Id do a bit of digging before trying a new prop. I think the Acmes are the way to go for skiing props- but if youre after top speed, Id take a look at an OJ Legend. |

WOW! All of my good buddies are "GRAND POOBAHS!" Great to see you guys are still around and thanks!!
Anyway, I turn the 540 at about 5k right now. Engine spec is not to exceed 5.3k ?? or something like that. I find also it is easier to control speed with a bunch of skiers behind. I just didnt want to sink tons into a new prop. Figured someone might have one thats kicking around. Jbear.....BEHAVE!!! Tim, yes I have not played with the high end skipping. Runs great otherwise and most dont barefoot at 52 mph!! And BTW, hoping to get it in the water this weekend. |

Jeff, in lieu of the 542 prop for some guaranteed additional hole shot, you might want to try a GT-40. I'm sorry, I'm as bad as Jbear. I want to ride in that boat some day. |
