Took three weeks, but the tranny is finally off. What do you guys think, can I re-use the damper plate if I clean it up really well? It has been hit on a few times to break some rust. I ask seriously as I have never done this before and don't know what the life expectancey is of one of these. Thanks.

um yeah they are like a hundred bucks, that one is garbage. Seriously its a relatively cheap thing to replace that most would replace whenever the trans is off even though pretty much every one I have ever seen looks better than that.

Rob, I thought you were joking at first and then read that you are serious. Trust me and follow Joe's advice!

Looks like you need to replace more than the damper. Looks like it has been under water at one point...

Gotcha, thanks people! I didn't know for certain how these things hold up. In the pic, it is wet from pb blaster and wd40. It had been full of oil from the front shaft seal going out and emptying the transmission fluid into it. I smothered it with navel jelly since originally posting and came to the same conclusion myself. Just glad I got the darn thing off finally! Looks like skidim has the replacement part for $95. New damper coming up!

Yes sir, it is. A 90 maristar 210 with a 351 and the Borg Warner 1:1. I know this is a CC forum, but from looking around, when it comes to needing help or for helping others with restoration, this site is it. Lots of smart people and very helpful too. I might not be a CC owner, but I am a boating enthusiast and enjoy what I do and helping other people, regardless of "race." (boat manufacturer)
I hope that doesn't mean I can't hang out on this forum. |

Rob, It sure looks like you found the MC on the bottom of the lake. Did someone dispose of it and buy a Correct Craft?? Just kidding and of coarse you are welcome here. We have lots of non CC owners who come to the site for help. Keep going and we'll all help with what we can.

It might as well of been sunk! I actually got it from the original owner (Maryland coast). Only has 230 hours. IT was outside all it's life and had 4 seagulls living in it when I rescued it. It had sat uncovered for the last 6 years (the cover was still "on it", shredded to a few threads. It has been a labor of love. Here are some pics from it originally before.
