While I was launching my boat the other day, we had the pleasure of watching this event. Wally takes friend jet skiing for the day. Wally has friend back the truck in the water to recover jet ski. This what you get.

Are they seriously loading that in the bed of the truck? NO trailer? That's a fairly new looking Kawasaki Sxr...wow! genius!

Also, I like that you were holding the camera very low as to not notify them that you were taking pictures of their stupidity. I, on the other hand would have probably just stood right up & clicked away haha...guess you have a bit more tact than i do

2 grown men should be able to pick that up, walk it to the truck, and place it in the bed.

The Wally's were out in full force this weekend, waited 15 minutes for some joker to get his little tri-hull POS prepped to unload while it was on the ramp. I was just about to say something and he unhooked the bow and off it went down the concrete ramp. The girl friend was sitting in the drivers seat, the screaming commenced, what a great show!!! Should have sold tickets.

GL had us saying stuff to them all weekend long.. One guy pulled out a ladder and windex to clean the boat, as he pulled up 5 feet out of the water.. WTF..

Then I guy (luncher at the marina grill) starts bitching because we have to park our trailers for a minute to pull plugs, winch down boats etc.. I looked at the guys and told him to read the sign that says "Marina"

Man it was a packed joke...

Moj'
PS: didn't stop us from having a fantastic weekend in the new boat.. Man are we having fun !!

That's the one thing I just don't get. Sure some people suck at lauching a boat, but don't sit there and block the ramp so you can clean it and get it prepped for the road.

Our joker tested our patience because it's a double wide ramp but he didn't back down far enough for anyone to get to the second ramp. Then when he dumped the boat in was like Dale and his other brother Dale trying to figure out what to do. There was another boat in front of us waiting also, it actually took us 45 minutes to finally get the ramp freed up and we we're trying to get out quick because of thunderstorms coming in.

The jet ski they put in the truck was an older stand up one, I think it was an older one. They are not making current ones are they? But the real funny part was when the guy in the water yelled at his buddy, hey this isn't your ***************g chevy. Plus them trying to close the tailgate while it was still full of water was quite funny.

Alan,
I was not there and I want to kill the guy after hearing about a 45 minute wait.

I really get mad when people have not prepped their boat for launching in the prep area and proceed to do so at the ramp. I stop put in the plug, unplug the trailer lights, and place a driver in the boat. How hard is that?

Problems on the ramp make me nutso! I wonder if there's a song that I could turn up loud in my boat (or truck) whenever there is a ramp moron causing trouble? What song would you suggest?

James, First reaction was, What a Fn idiot, then I started to feel bad for the guy and thought about helping for a minute, finally logic took over and I went for a boat ride and let them scream at each other. There was another boat waiting for the ramp before us and he was blowing his horn and agravating the situation so I thought this would be a good time to keep my big mouth shut before it got real ugly. It was something to watch though.

The typical scenario at my lake is:

Pep boat after lining up w/ ramp

Back it in, push off by hand, let wife hold the bow line while hubby parks the truck.

Saunder over to ramp dock, try to start boat.

Open engine cover & start tapping on things with a wrench.

Go back & get truck, pull it back out.

I've seen this at least 3 times this summer!

OK, now I have to confess I or least one of my buddies was the cause for a ramp fiasco.

At our normal drop we have a 4 wide ramp. Typical scenario is prep your boat before getting in line as it can get busy. Pull forward and get in one of the ramp lanes, when the boat boat on the ramp pulls out you back in and drop. Sounds easy right?

Well I took one of my employees out about a month ago and at the end of the day I was tying the boat up at the dock so I could get thetrailer and he says "want me to get the trailer?" DO you know how to back it up?" "Sure I do, do it all the time, blah blah, no big deal" Hesitantly I accept the help, hand him the keys to my brand new trailer thinking to myself this is probably a mistake. I untie and drift back away from the dock so not to hog the dock (another issue all together).

Now the fun starts, theres a Wally at the top of ramp one prepping his boat(he's supposed to be ready to go at this point). So my buddy pulls into slot #2 and waits for the boat at the bottom of the ramp to finish loading. 10 minutes goes by and the boat in our lane is still having problems, the wally on one is still prepping his boat so my buddy starts backing up and makes an S turn into the #1 lane. From the boat I watch thinking "I hope the moron in #1 said it was ok to do that". Well now my buddy starts backing up and its instantly clear he can't back a trailer and I start to worry, he's wiggling all over the place and it has now taken him 5-6 tries to back it down and meanwhile Wallys ready to drop his boat and we're in his way.

The shouting starts and now the 2 of them are on the ramp ready to go at it. Finally my buddy pulls the trailer back up into slot #2 and lets Wally have his lane but now he's so upset the backing gets even worse. I pull back up the the dock, tie off, explain and apologize to Wally who is still trying to launch his boat, back the trailer down myself and vow to never let anybody that doesn't own a boat ever help me on the ramp again. Wally shouldn't have been on the ramp but we should have asked to use his lane, just broke a ramp etiquet(sp) rule. Embarrassing and potentially lethal situtaion I will never get into again. Live and Learn.

The way I see it Alan it's a wash. I was waiting for the jackknife. Props for at least trying to S turn into ramp 1 from 2.

When everyone is tied up at the dock and I need to drop a trailer driver, I drop them on one of the tied up boats and have them walk across. I'd be OK with that if I was tied up and hogging the dock. I mean, we're walking across there barefooted, not putting tracks on another boat, but geesh, there are many times when you'd wait 25 minutes just to get to the dock. And if you can get in the trailer line, you're out right away. What usually happens is those guys who tie up at the dock are up in the parking lot having a beer and saying good bye to their friends who all just unloaded from the boat and are standing around.

Oh so they do make a new one. I can't say I have ever had enough interest in them to keep track. I always thought the stand up one would be a lot of work. Seems to me the stand up oen would be more fun after you got the hang of it.

LOL Alan...but I was scared when you started the story...know how beautiful that trailer was at GL. BTW...thanks for the honor when you placed that beautiful boat with your newly rebuilt engine in my hands. Quite a bit of trust placed in a new friend and I apprecite what you did by letting me drive it. Plus you had to know I was "jonesin" to drive as my '80 was a long ways away.

The people that back half way down the ramp and start loading things into the boat from the truck are the same people that pull the boat half way out and unload the boat. It really ticks me off, especially when they waited in line in the parking lot, where it should have been done.
