I did some work for a guy that fly's model planes and he told me he had jet turbine RC plane and i told him he was BSing me, Well today he brought one to my shop and fired this thing in the parking lot, I was finally amazed in life, it truly is a jet and it measures 139"s and has a turbine engine on it.
He fired this thing and it was exactly like a jet engine and throws 200 feet of smoke when the oil is injected, it took 2 of us to hold the plane back. he has about 15k wrapped up in this plane and ie really was amazing |

I've seen those, but only on youtube. My son ran across it. They are amazing, but like the real thing and like in this particular youtube video, they can crash. Makes for a pricey hobby.

yeah, Eric, those things are amazing. And they sound just like a full size jet too. Go over to youtube.com and type in RC jet and you can see some videos of them flying. They really haul a$$!

the guy is building a f-14 from scratch off of a set of small scale prints and will end up around 12 feet long also, it will have 2 engines on it with the retractable wings. no kits, all from scratch, he even vacuum forms the canopy out of lexan, i dont get amazed often but i truly was in awe, just talking to a guy like that and seeing something like that in person

Eric,
There is a club here, 15 minutes from my home. They also have these jets, and every year they have a big demonstration, where lots of people from all over Europe come to. Chantal and I went there a couple of years, and believe me, it's really amazing!! Pampa Modelfighters Again, the site is in dutch, but the pics speak for themselves! |

Chris, wax on, whacks off.
Kris, he said the turbines were made in Europe somewhere and i told him probably Belgium. the one on the plane was the size of a small coffee can and you can not believe the power it produces, it spins at 160,000 rpms, uses 5 gallons of fuel in 7 minutes. I really had to step back when this thing fired because the noise it produced was 10 times what i expected |

Actually Eric, on the demo days, when you closed your eyes, it was quite as if there was a real jet fighter flying over!
If he wants to know more, he can always contact the guys from the mentionned website. Most of the members there are actual fighter pilots or retired fighter pilots, so they all speak english. And some of the members are US pilots stationned here at Kleine Brogel Air Force Base (AKA "Kay Bee"). he told me he is not to computer literate, I think I found a new friend, he wants to take me to Dayton (Wright Patterson AFB, where they hide all the UFO's in the basement) on Saturday to fly the planes.
Dayton is a place to visit when you come over, it has the airplane museum and it is actually the hometown of Wilbur and Orville Wright.....we let NC think they were first in flight, it says it on thier license plates, thats OK though....we know where the wright brothers started. there are only 81 licensed pilots to fly this type of plane in the US because of the speeds they reach, he has a pretty impressive customer list and just finished up a plane for a Doctor and it fetched 25k...not to bad |

I have been there Kristof and it is impressive. But it is a wee bit outa the way.
To cover all you need to see you both better start planning for a month. Then we'll ship you around to some of the C/C'FAN'ers around the country and let them show you points of interest in their areas. In one of your other threads you mentioned that in 15 minutes you could drive accross your country. Heck you can't drive accross brunstucky in that amount of time. john |
