From Dreams of My Father:'I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.'

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Dreams of My Father:'There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.'

From Dreams of My Father: 'It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.'

From Dreams of My Father:'I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn't speak to my own. It was into my father's image, the black man, son of Africa , that I'd packed all the attributes I sought in myself , the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.'

And FINALLY the Most Damning one of ALL of them!!!

From Audacity of Hope:'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

By nature the two party system causes divisiveness in our land. Some of that is good . . . when it helps to clarify issues. The two party system also leads to a defensiveness that leads to attacking another. I used to think that this defensiveness was only a contemporary issue, but looking back through history, reading different biographies of Adams, Lincoln, and Truman for instance, shows that animosity towards someone with different political views or alignment is a common shared trait with our ancestors. In these days the animosity is simply more present because of technology.

It is important to me to check out information (www.snopes.com can add light to many of the stories and emails that come our way, including the above referenced info Dreams of My Father ). I want my president to be elected by an educated choice of the populace. However, in general, I think we place too much emphasis on the government to bring about change in our society that I think should better be assumed by the church (my bias) or other communities of people who really care (love) for one another. That care should extend to others so that we come alongside of others who are different from us and who can add immensely to our lives even as we bring with us food, water, or just good will and companionship. It is by extending this kind of love into the world that lives are changed . . . that is the best kind of politics. I do care about who the next president will be, but that is not what is most important to me. These small communities (which I would count CCFan as one) are far more important. Many of you have brought not only an incredible knowledge of boats to me, but have extended wonderful and lasting friendships. Having relationships with one another that extend beyond the surface of raw politics are what changes my life.

Chuck, are you married? lol nice thoughts from the heart
sometimes in life you get hammered with information and you start to believe it, If you really sit and put your thoughts together and voice your true opinion change may come from it. but if you sit back and do nothing, nothing will happen, you are either part of the problem or part of the solution, we truly need a change in the system and get rid of corrupt greedy politicians, these are politicians not common people they are the ones that control what happens day to day, as CCF is a community of alot of good people and the brothers here would do anything for another brother so do the politicians, but at times for the wrong reason

And yes, I am married, that's why I only have one boat.

So let me get this straight, if you have two boats would that translate to (2) wives or girlfriends and so on exponentially? Now it all makes sense, that is why Reid has no hair blowing in the wind!

Billy, It's all about perceived value. You just got to convince Karen that old Correct Crafts have a lot of value for the $. Don't bring up any of this hole in the water stuff.

Quinner: I think I'll stick to monogamy--she's worth it! The trade off is, garage space for her car is a life priority for us!

Greg: Boat Dr may not use many three sylable words, but the short ones he uses pack a great deal of meaning.

Eric, honesty is formost in mine and Karens relationship. She does the books and writes most of the check, just leaves the wheelin/dealin to me.
She knows what I pay for most everything and that ain't bad.
Divorce was the last major purchase made, and it was about 100,000 dollars. Her share for 30 yrs. putting up with me and raising our 3 kids plus building a business plus lawyer fees. For all she did and what she received she still came out on the short end.........

What a post: politics, marriage and CCs. Chuck thanks for the snopes link and reminding us to not swallow everything that comes our way.

I have been amazed this season at how many forwarded emails I've received that have been attacking Obama. I've received none that attacks McCain. Surely the Republicans aren't the only hateful people out there! Please someone send me an anti-McCain forward so I can use it as a reply to all the anti Obama stuff I'm receiving from my mother in law!

I have to agree that caring communities like CCFan.com are part of the way that people (and thus our country) are being transformed for the good. Thanks for the testimonies, Chuck and Billy.

This is really a great topic.
Chuck, I couldn't agree more with your first reply. I'm proud to say I have friends from all over the world that all have different vieuws and opinions. It's what makes my life richer.
I just love this community we have here on this forum, where we can share our vieuws on boats, wives, politics and the world... And learn something new from each other each and every day to make our lives a little better.

Boat doc, I never lie to the squeeze, I went through the big D too and it was right up there on the cost. I just figure if I dont tell her its not lying , I dont like to get fogged with day to day decisions, I seperate the business from my family and i am in a different situation, business is business, family is family...from 8 to 5 i dedicate my time to business and the other 16 hours is dedicated to my family.....besides im a terrible liar

Sometimes people get wrapped around the axel with the words and whats really important is the spirit of the message.
Once there was a fresh snow fall on the ground when I awoke. I didn't see it snow and I can't prove it did in a court of law. But I know it did.
