Some months ago I posted an Autocad drawing of my 1968 Mustang dash panel. Here are pics of the dash. I have assembled the hardware but have not yet wired the dash. If anyone would like a copy of the Autocad file just let me know. Post your email address and I will send it to you. I had the dash cut from 1/4" of marine grade aluminum (overkill). I think 3/16" "anygrade" aluminum would be fine.

Looks great with the black on black. Are those Farina gauges? Quite a bit different from my '68 but it is an SS.I only have 3 pull switches on mine,blower,lights and bilge pump.What is your extra for?

Yep. Those are Farina gauges. The pull switches are the same that came from the factory on my original dash: blower, bilge pump, dash lights, nav lights. I gave up on the ammeter vs voltmeter argument and I am retrofitting the factory ammeter with a volt meter. Being the old guy I am, I have watched ammeters all of my early years and I just like them. However, it's getting harder and harder to find an ammeter in the style of choice - so I made a concession here. I sprayed the panel with black to see how I liked it. I plan remove the gauges and send the panel to a powder coater. I hope the gauges hold up. (They were the lowest priced gauges I could find.)

Jim I'm actually about to we wire my 67 mustang, it needs a total redo, any idea where I could get a wiring diagram? I pretty much need to rewire the entire boat.

Peter, I'll excuse you with this one since your so new. Spend some more time here and get used to all the great resources it has to offer. Welcome and hopefully you know we want pictures of the project!! All the older boats used the same basic wiring. This is in our reference section under manuals: Waukesha manual on page 11 has the wiring diagram you're looking for. Stick with the wiring color code - it's still current. |

I actually created my own wiring drawings by tracing the wiring in the boat, one wire at a time, and drawing them out. There are some good resources on this site. Look in the manuals section. One thing I have discovered is that the factory was not consistent. For example, my 68 has a wiring harness with the colors per some manual in the resources section but the wires from the connector to the engine change colors and I could find no reference to the colors of wires on my engine. Both ends of the harness connector appear to be factory so I have to think the inconsistency is from the factory. Who knows. I wish I could be of more help. If I thought my "chicken-scratched" drawings were readable and would help you I would post them but I think they would do a lot more harm than good (and it would be a waste of time). One good thing about tracing the wiring yourself, from the dash to the engine and accessories, is that you will learn your boat. There is not that many wires and it is not as hard as it may seem. Be sure to use marine grade wire. It's important. Have fun. |

I have a nearly complete wiring diagram that my brother drew up while we were fixing stuff. We will finish it this Spring or Summer. |
