new boat owner

I would like to know about the protec if it is a real problem or should I convert it right away, had it out int he late fall and it seem to run fine.Boat has a 351 with a 1.2521 transmission not sure what he prop is, will do 45-50 miles down the lake the rpm'sare at 3000- 3500 but slow out of the hole? would like to know what the origanal prop is has no markings on the prop and would like ot use it for tuben and wakeboarding.is it really yellow and black in color as I was told this is its oraginal color?
