I have an older model CC that has a 1986 Indmar marine motor. Anyone have any ideas on how to tell a 302 from a 351?

An easy way to tell the differance between a 302 & a 351w ,is the space between the head and timing change cover. If you can put your thumb print on the front of the block without touching the head it's a 351w. There's no room on a 302.
I'm puzzled too; is it a 2001 model ski- nautique. Ya sure it's not a PCM engine? |

Right now I am not sure of much. We worked about 4 hours yesterday trying to get it to fire but all it would do is turn. The motor will turn over very easily with a good charge but just will not fire. The only reason I thought it was an Indmar is that it has an Indmar cover over the carb. We had two mechanics over yesterday and they were a little puzzled. The stamp on the top pully housing says 8-5-86. I just guessed that was the birthday of the motor. It could very well be a PCM. We have not been able to match any numbers on the motor from the internet. According to the previous owner the following was done and it still would not start, new starter, Holly carb cleaned/rebuilt, new alternator, new battery, new guages, new plugs, plug wires, points, condenser. It appears that we now have fire from all the correct places except weak voltage from the ignition switch. The boat is a rebuilt 1965 Correct Craft Nautique which is very attractive otherwise. Any ideas?

wonder if they have the correct rotation starter and if they/you sparked the points to get them to work. Had fun with the points on Johns project a couple of years ago.
