Maybe a 450 cfm is correct. I know the listings go like 450 600 750 850 1050. If you have a catolog it is easier than using the web page. With 210 cubic in motor a 450cfm carb should be more than enough.

Summit has them for under $400

4160 is the model and not the size carb a 4160 comes in 450cfm, 600cfm, 750cfm and so on. Have Summit send you a catolog or search holley marine carburator.

Kenny, checked the carb. tonight. It is a list 1850-2, that no. according to Holley, is a 4160 style, 600 c.f.m.. With a primary main jet 122-66, and a secondary main jet 134-9. It is a vacuum secondary, with manual choke, no "J" tubes!

Kenny,
That Holley that you pawned off on Wallace definitely wasn't the original. Was it on the green SS? The Interceptors like mine, came with an Autolite carb. I've got one that came off mine, that I'm sure would need a rebuild that you're welcome to. Depending on the year, they used both style Autolites, the square shaped one or the elongated Holley shape. But if you're going with the new Holley, BC is correct in the 450 CFM size for a 289-302, which unfortunately I guess, because of less popularity, typically costs more than the 600. And so did you end up buying the green and light blue Mustangs? I dug up the photos just the other day that you sent me way back when.

if my new pole barn is built on time i want to come down for the NCNOA in may.sandy will be off work for two months and would be a good time for a road trip for us.i'll call you.

Unless you are a fanatic on an original carb I suggest an Edelbrock marine carb with electric choke. Tuning & maintainence on an this unit is simple. On 260-289 engines 600cfm is no problem. You can find these carbs @Jegs for $300.00.

The chrysler 318 polyshpere motor, 210 hp
in a 66 boat originally had a carter afb-3213s.
600 cfm. Edelbrock make a good replacement, but
you might try a professional carburetor rebuild
shop, for less than 1/3 the money, and they
should be able to tell you before hand if it
is rebuildable. thats the route im taking
with mine.If your motor is really a poly?

I had a holley 500 cfm (2 bl) on my '66 Mustang and it didn't perform better, it just used alot more gas. I switched to a holley 350 and it performs better, liked it did with the stock carb which I think is a 325.

There is a new Holley 450CFM 4V on Ebay now for $469.95.

I'm pretty happy with my 450. I had it on the river this morning and my 289 ran right up to 5300RPM pretty quickly. I don't really want to go higher than that.

IMHO, the 450 will do a better job of metering fuel at low (towing) speeds. I have nothing to base this on however.

Happy owner of a '66 and a '68 Mustang
