Removing the Eye from the Pylon

I need to remove the eye, the attachment point for the rope, from the pylon in order to install a Big Air Pylon on my 1979 Ski Nautique. The new pylon is to slip over the existing one mounted in the boat. The eye is connected by pins or set screws, I really connot tell. Can anyone help me with a method to remove the eye? I don't want to force it and break something. Thanks

They are very hard to remove. I broke mine. A friend of mine broke his. I suggest you get the item that sells in the CCFan store. It bolts onto your existing pylon and has a pole that you can apply your Big Air Pylon.

I removed mine with success. I Removed the pins in the post, soaked it in penetrating oil and used an engine hoist connected to the ring to put tension on it. don't put so much tension on it to lift the boat, because you can. but enough to make it good and tight. you can wait a couple days and it will come out on its own, by increasing the tension on the hoist over a period of time or with the hoist on it you can use a long bar to turn it. once you turn it just keep tension on it and it will lift out. A little heat from a torch won't hurt it either. all you need is a punch to get the pins out no special tool required. just be careful with the bar if you go that route. small turns at a time. I was thinking about the clamp on pylon, but It seemed to big and would get in the way in these smaller boats. that's just me though.
