   On the rare occasion it works at all, my horn sounds like a dying moped horn that's 2 blocks away.  Is there an easy way to determine if it's actually the horn, or a wiring problem?

	If you have a small Battery (lawnmower or motorcycle) or one of the portable starters, disconnect the horn and connect the portable starter directly to the horn wires. It will bypass the feed wires and switch.

	Unfortunately I don't. I assume the boat battery straight in would be a bad idea... By the way, sweet Barracuda... I grew up skiing behind an identical boat!

	Mine has 12 volts going to it so I don't see why it would hurt to connect directly to the battery to test. Unless it's a different setup, you do have a much newer boat than I do. That's what I did to mine, figured out the switch was going bad.

	Dan, Yes the horn is 12 volt. Before you go to the trouble of getting the jumper wires out and testing directly to the battery get out the volt meter. Check the voltage going to the horn. Load side of the horn switch and ground. Then compare this to the battery voltage while sounding the horn. The voltage should be close. If not then the switch may be bad or wiring connections need cleaning. A bad switch will also show a high resistence in ohms if you meter has a ohm scale. Even the most basic meters will. A good switch should be damn close to 0 ohms. BTW, if you don't have a meter, pick up one at the hardware. For about $20 you will find a tool that will come in handy around the house and boat. They will also come with instructions!!!
