Eric, CC has been around since 1925. They were contracted by the US gov to build boats for big offensive river crossing. (Used to cross the Rhine I think?)
Walt accepted the challenge to built 600 boats in a very short period of time however he told Uncle Sam that they would NOT work on Sunday as it was the the Lords day and it belonged to him. After fighting back and forth about it with the gov they agreed and not only did they build what the gov asked for but but 30 or so more.
It's all in the bio of CC in "Parting the Waters" a good read and Mr Ralph was Proud to tell us all this story when we met him at the Masters.

June 6 has always moved me in a humble way as I can not imagine what those guys went through to provide the freedom I'm blessed to have. For allot of them to train as long and hard as they did only to be cut down seconds after the gate dropped is such a sad thought. They did what they had to do and had the WHOLE country behind them. It ticks me off to no end that we don't ALL support those who are fighting for it today. I love to hear their stories and could listen to them for hours. I only hope that I can make it to Normandy to see the history for myself. A VERY humbling experience is what I will find. That I have no doubt about.

It says a lot about Walt that he would take on such a responsibility and deliver in such a short time. I am proud to own Correct Crafts not only because of the quality they deliver but also their character as a company!

I visited Normandy in May and it is by far one of the most memorable experiences of my life! Both of my grandfathers we involved in the D-day effort and I can't begin to imagine what happened that day. I don;t even know how we can ever thank them enough.

ole grandpa was on Okinawa, maybe this is why my roots dont like the dot, in charge of demolitions, straight laced as they come, get a couple in him and he would open up, it was my job he would say and was proud of it which he should be, doing things that you were taught all your life to be a sin, Im exposed to alot of Vietnam Vets and and can see a void in there personalities its just something they dont talk about and they have to deal with it on thier own...these guy's fought for our freedoms...we've become a mixing pot, its hard to imagine what I'll be talking about 20 years from now.
my grandfather wound up on an island in the Pacific for 6 months after the war ended, I think it was a no clothes required island...he told me if i wasnt married to your Grandma i would still be there
