Hi again every one
since my engine has to come out to get the main end seal done i have decided to completly strip the inside of the boat out and do things like new carpet exhaust hoses and so on. my question is the boat has always leaked in from the back somewhere, i think i ma have found why, i was pulling at the front end of the exhaust to get it off and the hole lot just pulled with ease off the transom connection not so good!! i can see why as the transom connections have no lip on them so they dont seal so well My question is how do you normally get that to seal on there?? using 5200? any tried to burr the lip over to try make a better seal?? |

I just use two hose good clamps on each end of the connection and make it part of your mid season check list to check if there tight.

Yes on the "T" bolt clamps and two per connection. BTW, two clamps per connection is a USCG reg for below the waterline.

yea it had 2 clamps on it, i think the hose must have just been 2 stiff for the clamps that were on it so was not actually compressing the hose (standard worm drive style or whatever you call it) will get those T clamps, i think i know the ones your talking about,
i know the need for the 2 clamps, have been over my head in water in the bilge a 60 footer before with pumps because some twat only put one clamp on a 5" exhaust, not so fun haha! Thanks |
