I'm looking for general information on the mustang. What year did it come out? 1968? 1969? What were the available motor options? I've seen a few list on this site while searching. My uncle is the original owner of what I believe is a 68-69 Mustang. It has an interceptor engine in it that has 190hp printed on it. Most of the ones I've seen on here are listed at 200+.
I'm 36 years old and grew up driving in, being towed behind, and driving this boat. I remember as a kid thinking it was the fasted boat in the world. Then as a teen thinking it was an old broken down floating junk pile. Then as I got older and wiser (maybe just a little wiser) I started appreciating it again. This past weekend I enjoyed taking my kids and wife out for a spin around the lake. My uncle is getting older and the boat sees little use. Maybe two or three days a year. I would love to some day buy it from him and restore it. In the meantime I was searching online for any information I could find out about it and came across this site. I'm hoping someone can share some info with me. |

You can learn a lot by looking at the reference section and the diary section linked at the top of this page. In the diaries, there are mustangs listed as early as 62, but they dont show up in the CC brochure until 66. NOt really sure if they are mislabeled in the diaries or just not covered in the brochures. The early ones had some small engine options, 162 cid/70 hp, 170 cid/100 hp or 260 cid/165 hp. We had a 66 when I was a kid that had a 289 interceptor/165 hp. A year or two later they went to the 302 as the stock motor. The hull you have was around till 1970, then in 1971 they went to a different hull, but still 16 feet. In 74 and 75 (give or take) there were 16 and 17 foot munstangs available and then until 79, its last year, it was just a 17 footer. Search for mustangs in the diaries and you will see the styles and options.
As close as you are in new hampshire, you should bring your boat to Lake George next week. (See the reunion link above) There will be 20 to 30 boats there (including the beautiful 2009 CorrectCraftFan tribute boat and dozens of CCFans. |

“So, how was your weekend?” “Well, let me see…sun burn, stiff neck, screwed up back, assorted aches and pains….yup, my weekend was great, thanks for asking.” |

Welcome Ed.Sounds you have alot of great memories with that Mustang. Mustangs like yours came out in '65. Get some pictures up here and someone can help, plus we like pictures. When you get a chance, get the serial number from the boat,it's on the port side stringer next to the engine, and will or should start with an "M". Call customer service at Correct Craft, they'll know the exact date. They came with all types of of engines,Grey Marine, various Ford,260's,289,302s for obvious reasons and Chrysler conversions. The main differences over the years was the deck, with the hull starting service with the '63 American Skier.

Don't just bring your Uncles boat, bring your Uncle too. I brought my Dad and my whole family to Green Lake this summer and he brought his 64 Ski Nautique. I can't tell you how much he enjoyed talking about his old boat, and what was great was the guys here showed such a genuine interest. I can't tell you how cool it was to watch him talking, smiling and laughing as he talked to anyone who stopped by. If your Uncle is anything like my Dad, he will have a GREAT time too.
