I saw this at the detail shop and thought some of you might like to see it as well. An interesting feature is the upholstry on the deck; it's completely covered from the rub rail up.
Rumor is it will be for sale soon. |

Greg, That's a mid to late 80's Resorter 18. That is a clean boat. Any idea or how much? It fits on the SN trailer the same way ours did when we tried it, not very well. The lifting strake crosses over the bunk. But, that is a very clean boat. I'd be interested to know more!
The deck, if it's like all the ones I've seen, is painted with a vinyl paint. It doesn't scratch and it's easy to walk on, especially with those toe rails. It's too bad someone added some deck hardware, (the cleats on the rear and the eyes on the side). |

Bruce, I'm supposed to get a call when there is a price on it. I drive by there every day and will keep an eye on it.
The deck seems to have regular material on it pinched on the edges by the rub rail and those stainless rails. I'm not sure though as this is the first like it that I've seen. |

I've never seen one with a deck like that. I'd look into whether it was done like that originaly or if someone covered it at some point for some reason. They're very well made boats, and fast too. My brothers and I bought a new 1980 in May of '80. My brother still owns it. It does 48 gps with a 255 Mercruiser. Since getting into CC's the psat few years, my sons and I have speculated how fast one of those would go with engine mods. They are RR rotation too. They steer like an old truck, but are very cool, classic boats that are great to tool around in. We skied off ours for 13 years and at that time I thought it was a great ski boat. We bought ours over an '80 SN, mainly due to the classic colors and styling.

My father had a Resorter like that but his didn't have trim tabs. I don't remember what year his was (maybe '84) but it did have a Mercrusier in it. It was like driving a 50's Buick. You sank into the plushy seats and with all the chrome and the vent windows it was classy but no ski boat.

You definately sank way down in the seats. The windshield was tripple plated chrome and was beautiful, but when the glare caught your eye it was blinding. Ours did not have trim tabs and it did not need them. I've got hundreds of hours putting around Sebago Lake in that boat, a lot of good times. I'm not interested in buying it, but I would definately pass it on to people that always look at my brother's and say they would love to buy it.

Peter, of course I still have your seats. They're bolted into the floor of our Mustang, (not really they're just sitting in it). Man, I was hoping you weren't wishing you hadn't given them to me when I saw your boat listed for sale, (needing seats). If you want them, you can have them, but you're going to have to take that floor pan back too. I didn't use it and I haven't found anyone that wants it. And I'd never throw it out, so I'd probably be in posession of it forever. You really ought to keep that boat though, sell your pontoon or one of your hot rods instead. Give me a call.

bruce thanks you can keep the seats if you have a boat to wrap around them . i still want a different style . i might keep the boat i just got wrapped up in the 37 coupe this summer and some work on the camaro. now i started a nice steel 26 t roadster pickup. so i really should just sit on the boat a while and not be so damn impulsive. what are you working on? and are you healthy again? tell me about your boats .

I personally think these are awesome boats. Sure they aren't as responsive as the CC's, but certainly and undenyably more comfortable... This boat is beautiful. I've been watching these boats for years, and have never seen the topside covered in vinyl like this one... Very strange... The center sections on the bow and stern went from early wood to vinyl, but to the whole darn topside...
I think the coolest ones were like the one Pete's friend found which had a glass hull and a wood deck.... Moj' |

Need Pete to validate this, but I don't believe that deck to actually be vinyl, but a vinyl print in the gelcoat. We had a '72 Resorter which was constructed such. The earlier boats no doubt had all shades of colored vinyl decks over wood, but starting in about 1969 with the Cheetah and Resorters (and maybe others) this actual vinyl became textured gelcoat, I think. Definitely vinyl however, on that center strip. Pete?

The deck was dull and had a vinyl like non skid paint on them. I suppose it could have been white or cream colored gel coat with a coarse texture. The center strip was vinyl over plywood and matched the interior. The decks didn't shine and they didn't scratch. I used to put Armoral on it. That boat is one of the nicer ones I've seen.
Peter, we've got the Mustang and the Classic that my sons bought. The Classic runs, but needs an interior. The Mustang needs to have some mechanical issues sorted out, and be put back together. We did buy an old Atom that turned out to need too much work and it has been parted out. I've got a pretty nice tail gate to a model A truck if you ever need one. |

I'll have to go look again...sure did feel like vinyl over the entire deck above the rub rails.
I have textured gel on a small walkway at the dock; it's a different animal. |

I've seen one that was vinyl over the entire deck but it was a few years ago. The guy had redone it to original and did a great job. I've always wanted one after seeing how plush his was!
