Thanks a whole bunch guys! Even for that sarcastic love. I've been away from the site for the last few days enjoying a great birthday weekend with a few really good friends; Tim (Trbenj along with the lovely Melissa), Joe from NY, and Gary (65 Cuda) who all showed up either to drop off a boat or parts, pick up a boat or parts, and we ended up doing a bit of prop testing, engine work, cruising, and of course sampling some fine beverages. They all just pulled out headed North this past hour.
Prop testing revealed among other things, that the Orange Crush indeed has a rev limiter at 5800. Second was that the factory Acme 668 prop is probably the fastes/best for the boat. She ran 56.4 yesterday, which is less than 1 mph off her best but we're attributing that to the fact that Melissa is about 100 less lbs of back seat ballast than Alan was last Feb in FLA. Did someone tell me that Jody Seal really doesn't believe she'll actually run that fast? I'm confident we'll get Jody out on the StJohns River for Feb's gathering, so he'll be able to see for himself. While testing other props on other boats, Donald80SN showed up Saturday afternoon greatly assisting with some prop changes. And I feel like a really did get a new boat for my birthday as Tim and Melissa delivered down the 352 Interceptor powered 65 Tournament Skier which showed up at LG last month (thanks to Tim there as well). Cracked exh manifolds and a bad dist cap allowed her to start up but not go in the water at LG however. At my place Joe actually diagnosed the dist cap after several hrs of futile starting attempts and "BAM" she came to life immediately. Definiely got some hrs and wear on her, but she sounds great! We had already replaced the manifolds and let her run off the hose for quite some time until well after dark. Attempted to launch her this morning but discovered the trans cooler had suffered the same fate as the manifolds (cracked) and was letting water into the trans. Oh well, but we've got an extra of those lying around somewhere. We'll post pictures soon. Tim took off from here with a project boat to add to his other CC's in the form of a '67 first gen SN. It's the white hull/red deck SN shown in the Diaries under my name. I'm sure Tim will have it looking respectable within no time. I believe the next few years is gonna reveal a resurgence of this original SN hull as several guys have them in the works. Thanks again to my visitors and to all you other CCFan-Family well-wishers as this was truly a great birthday. (And while I am definitely older than him, I'm confident I can still kick Quinner's butt, however I'll admit that he is a better skier and bigger lush.) |

Reid happy birthday.
Sounds like a perfect way to celebrate your birthday. Couple of high speed runs a bit of tinkering and a few cleansing ales. Life is good. |

What a great sounding weekend. What better way to spend your b-day than with some C/CFAN guys and a new old boat! I still cannot believe that Tim is getting away with taking that underage young lady accross state lines. Someone said they hoped that Laurie would take you out somewhere nice...well I hope she kept you in and showed you a good time!
We all know what you mean to the site, as a source of info and parts, as keeper of the Orange Crush, leader of the infamous NC posse, fantastic host to all at the Pinkham Peninsula, simply just a great person to know. I am glad to count you among my friends! Happy Birthday from me, Patti and jo the wonder dog. john |

We were lucky enough to spend the day with the man himself, but its worth saying once more- hope you had a great birthday Reid!
Theres a lot I could say, but JBear summed it up pretty nicely. A huge THANK YOU for welcoming us to NC- it was an experience we wont soon forget. Too many details to mention, but suffice it to say that this site never ceases to amaze me, as it has introduced me to some truly terrific people that I am proud to call friends. Too cool. Seeing that Tournament Skier fire up was a highlight for sure- no doubt such a unique and interesting CC has found a perfect home... cant wait to get a ride in that barge. The '67 I brought back allows me to check a 1st gen SN off my list of "must-have" CC's... we spoke for several hours on the way home what the future holds for that boat. Ive got a lot of projects currently lined up, but I cant wait to get started on that one! |

Reid, Laurie, Skipper and Boaty,
Happy Birthday Reid, its not how old you are its how young you act. I hope I still have that same spring in my step in a decade. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the hospitality, the short block, and an all around great weekend. Every time CCFans get together, it really does feel like family. It was great seeing Tim, Melissa, Matt, Marshall, and Joe again, and meeting a whole new bunch of fanatics, Donald, John, Ruch, I'm sure I'm missing a few. That Tournament skier will be a great cruiser! Gary |

I was just taking my boat for one last run of the season in-order to get her ready for a early winterization and I decided to run by Reid's place. As usual, there was a lot of Correct Craft lovers hanging around. I was pleasantly suprised to meet TRBenj, Melissa, JoeNY and Gary (65 Cuda). I expected Tim and Joe to be much older from all of the wise advice that they give on this site. I was suprised to see how young both of these guys when you look at how much experince they have with these old boats. It was great to be able to meet them in person. I felt like I already knew them for reading their posts.
When I arrived, Matt was running the Fast Buck Jersey Skiff. That was very cool, and the boat was mostly out of the water. It was just like a boat show at Reid's house. The funny thing was Ried's neighbor came and asked if we would stop running that Green Race Boat in the Cove. She also said that another neighbor was complaining about them running a Red ( 70 Mustang) Boat in the cove on Friday. She said that we were being too loud with the boats. She actually was being nice about it, but I still found it to be funny. If I knew in advance that Reid was having an mini mini reunion I would of cleaned up my boat before I took it over. Oh well, you just never know who will be at the BBC and Reid's home. Reid is always very welcoming to friends stopping by. Donald |
