Pete, The bell housing I have is for a Y block, (I have 2). I'm looking for a Dearbo for the Mustang. After talking with Steve H., I think I'd like to find one that works. Those guys love the Dearbos.

Bruce,
Did ether of the Steve's have any suggestions for rebuilding and or parts? How about a source for a complete trans? I take it Eric didn't have much luck with it. |

are you sending that one riley, havnt heard lately..I have one laying around but i cant get the drum apart without breaking, I'll put that one back in the lathe and see whats going on with it. it looks perty though...

Eric, it looks so pretty, I hate to pull it off the engine.
I talked to this guy that he and his father are big into Y blocks and Dearbos. They love the Dearbos. They have rebuilt a number of them and said they are very tricky and most of the parts they use they end up making themselves. I figure I will send it to you once I remove it, but in the meantime, if I could find one that worked, it would saves us time and head aches. I know a guy that used to have one, but he gave it to someone else. I just need to convince the guy that now has it to sell it to me. |

I thought the Boat Doc had one..get it off there and box it, it sounds as if there may be an internal valve leak applying both circuits at once. as soon as i get it I'll take a look and get it right back to you

one thing i didnt think about Bruce was if the input shaft was preloaded and pushing in towards the trans some problems may occur such as drag and stalling, did the trans slide in nicely and with the thick front gasket that is not available it may cause the shaft to be in farther and possibly pre-loading it..call me and I'll explain in further deatail

Eric, I'll give you a call Monday. The trans did slide in nicely. I used Yama Bond as a sealer. It definately is not as thick as the gasket that was on there.

i was thinking that maybe the input shaft is botteming out in its splines, it would make the output hard to turn though, you should be able to grab the output and easily turn it by hand

Everything's going great. Fortunately, I'm busy right now. TB found me a nice Dearbo for $50, but it's a lefty. Never did get the Dearbo pulled as we started removing foam from the Barracuda. Can't wait to get back to it all come spring.
