I am looking for some info if anyone has found a boat lift that does n ot have to be anchored to the bottom or a cable system overhead?
I have looked at a lift called Airlift has anyone bought or have seen one just makes me a little nervous as I am on the Ohio river the marine gets its fair share of rough water. thanks matt |

By anchored do you mean sittting on the bottom.(legs)? Do you want one that floats. I've seen one on pontoons (Hydrohoist) but they are usually used for larger boats.

Matt we have three of the floating type lifts. We haven't had any issues other than replacing some bolts that were wearing. One was bought new and two used. They have made Quite a few improvements on the new models. If you are looking at a new make sure it has bushings on the arms and if you are in rough water the remote control is nice to bring lift up while you are on water and back down when you come in. This is a picture of one I need to raise the bunks for my 79SN. Monty

It all depends on your lake level. Does it fluctuate that much where you need a floater? |

yes the water level goes up and down daily a few feet just want something nice to keep my boat from being all cheesed up

Our lake can vary over 20 feet through out the year (Summer pool is 510, winter is 490) so we use the floating lifts. The two I have are Hydrohoist brand and we have been happy with them. They mount to the sides of your slip (require a U shaped slip) and have 4 pivot arms attached to a cradle. Under the cradle are pontoons that hold air to lift the boat.

While we are talking about lifts. Does anyone have trouble with little birise making nest in th e canpoy? How do you keep the lttle buggers out. It has become a daily chore to knock out these pesty nests.

Hang some surveyors tape down around the canopy. They wave around, bright colored and keep the birds out. Otherwise, get your paddle out and play some swallow baseball |

They laugh at the owl, play with the rubber snakes and really seem to enjoy me swinging at them. I have to exterminate one and hang him upside down by his feet (I was told this works with pidgeons). They get their revenge with stuff all over the boat. I'll try the surveyor tape trick next. I would use the police line stuff but I bety they can't read.
