Has anyone had any experience with Solas props? I know it's not an ACME or OJ but I ran across one in a prop shop that the guy may deal on, might be OK for a spare or a simple cruising prop in unknown waters.

I know they make great impellers (props) for jet skis.

Is it Nibral or SS?

It's stainless, a 13x13, don't know what the cup is but it looks very similar to an OJ Legend. Actually I don't think they make any Nibral props, seem to concentrate on impellers and I/O props.

I was wondering that myself.

I knew they made SS impellers for PWC.

It makes sense that they only make SS ones.

I'll probably pick it up on Friday, the price is right and I can't swing an ACME right now. If it doesn't work out it could always be a spare.

As some of you know, I have a Century Fibersport with a 327 Chevy, I had a 13x14 cupped that I dinged up pretty bad. That prop would let me turn 4000 and get 42 mph checked on my GPS which I was OK with. This prop is a 13x13 cupped, should give me a little more rpm and maybe a better hole shot. The spare on the boat just doesn't feel right to me which is why I'm looking to replace it. BTW, even though I am not a CC owner, the site is great, many good ideas that would work.

Update: Picked up the Solas 13x13 prop and am now in Minocqua WI enjoying it. Hole shot is much better and the list to port that I had with the old 13x14 uncupped is gone, the boat rides nice and flat and turns both port and starboard - who would have thought a prop could affect things so much. I'm pretty pleased with it although I do get a little vibration at a certain rpm, I'm sure a little more time aligning the engine while the boat is in the water would help. I;m sure the ACME would run smoother yet but for the money this one is working out just fine for me. Have not checked WOT yet, will save that for the end of the week.

Greg,
I'm glad to hear the prop is working out for you. I'm sorry to hear you landed in the biggest tourist trap of the world!! plan your vacation next year to someplace else!!

Pete, Minocqua is far from being that bad. I do appreciate my cottage being about 30 minutes away from Minocqua though:)

Greg,   just be sure to stay away from stumps and rocks, otherwise that SS prop will make problems.

How much was it and where did you get it from?

Just got back yesterday, lost the internet connection at the resort. Minocqua isn't the Dells Pete, it's all in what you make of it.

Horkn - sending you a PM

Greg,
I never said Minocqua was the "dells" but certainly close as far as "tourist traps" go!! Not as bad as the "dells" area but certainly worse than Eagle River which I also consider to be one of them. I avoid going into Eagle unless I have too (usually a Ace hardware store run) and going to Minocqua is not on my list of things to do. The last time I was there was for a wood boat show. It wasn't a fun experience. Traffic lights in a northern Wisconsin town?? Sorry but I may be more "low keyed" but my idea of a northern Wisconsin town is different. Next year try Three Lakes! Lots more, not as crowded water too!!

Pete,
Now why would you suggest Three Lakes? I'll admit it has gotten very commercialized and expensive up there, but we still enjoy it. honestly we have never looked at Three Lakes, other than their wine that is - which has doubled in price over the years !!!!!! Maybe we'll give it a look the next time we're going up.
