To celebrate the founding of our great country this weekend Minnesotas fine demecrat govenor decided to veto our state budget and then stand on principle till the govenment shut down. All our state parks are chained shut. I dont know how many of you have followed this but after the last election we were given a republican controlled house and senate (not enough to override a veto) and a failed democrat senator for a govenor. The republicans came up with a blanced budget increasing spending by a modest 6 percent. I personally would have been very happy to see a 6% or any size increase this year, I dropped about 25% this year. Govenor Dayton wanted to increase the budget by 5 billion (20 plus percent) paid for by taxing the rich. (Minnesota already has the 5th highest per capita tax rates in the nation, so we are by no means undertaxed). As I said the Govenor vetoed this budget "standing on principle". I am still trying to figure out what that principle is (Spoiled politician wanting to get his way? Wants to drive evil buisness out of the state? Wants Minnesota to be #1 at something (highest taxes) as our vikings sure never seem to get us there?) I say considering how many tax payers are suffering right now this is pure greed by big government. I will gladly stay out of the parks this summer to have the opportunity to have Govenor Dayton shown for the liberal hack that he is. (He cried like Bainer yesterday) I hope the national republicans are watching and learning and stick to there guns on the debt ceiling. As Pres O says...Elections have consequences.
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.
