Question - The "walk on" bit of the bow area of an 09 Ski Naut CB. What is this material? Foam, grip tape, non slip grip paint or other?

I want to create a similar feature on my 89 SN and wondered what the best (easiest) material to use.

Justin I think it would be the EVA foam grip pads (Gator Grip). Not sure if it would look that good on the 89 SN2001. The earlier model SN's that had walk thru screens used teak strips that would match the teak elsewhere on these boats. I think 94 was the first year of the walk thru screen Keith's 94 has this option. Justin how are you going to step over the screen anyway? Maybe a matching teak ladder would help.
There is a deck grip product that is more durable than the EVA foam I purchased some for a surf board. It is the same EVA foam but has a heat stamped pattern making it more durable.
Deck Grip
I have some left over from the surfboard will dig it out and see how much is left. I do think teak strips would look much better though.

If you're going through hell, keep going

Mark, as you probably gather, I'm not going back to the original decals / deck striping (I know - shock horror). I've started the gelcoat restoration and it's coming up like brand new. I've already got some 2006 SN side and transom decals and I have some associated model designator decals coming over now.

I was just looking at those later model bow pads and thinking it would look really cool on the 89 bow. I could even do some in a teak colour to match. I'm not planning on actually using them, it's just a "look" thing to break up the white deck.

Justin,
What advice are you getting off sites like PN or WB'r? they are the ones who go with all the non original BS!!! I'm curious!! BTW, you know where I stand on your question!!

Nothing wrong with non-original Pete, so long as it's done tastefully and complements the original shape. We don't have many here in Australia, so only a few people would have an idea what an original 89 looked like anyway.

For the record, I'm not a fan of PN either, and what is WB'r?

WB'r = wakeboarder.com

It's Pete's "other" favorite site. Ever seen a white haired guy do a 360 on a wakeboard in a turtle neck. Pete's the bomb don't let him fool you.

Our 98 had a reasonably hard rubber glued to the bow in similar fashion to Keiths 94 above.

IMO it looked like arse and I'd always wished I never had it.

I almost always loaded from the rear platform or side. to negate the need to walk on the bow.
