if anyone remembers the towboat engine (bbc) i did last year and went thru 3 starboard manifolds because the rocket scientists left out the block off plates, well he overheated it again this year because of seaweed in the pick up, and obviously im getting accused of not going thru the heads because it appears the it is sucking a valve. mind you, on his logbooks he did 72 tows, which is very hard on a boat, i did remind him he did pull water into the engine on 4 occasions.....these fcn guys, do they ever fcn get it, once again at a loss and paying for a dumbass.
none of this sht in their eyes effects the performance or the mechanicals of an engine, he wants me to buy him a set of heads, this is the sht that makes me numb to boating and boaters, sorry, just venting

70+ tows / 4 mistakes and 1 over heat (that you know of). Sounds like this one is on him. Does he provide you with other paying work or customers? Is he advertising for you on his vessel?

sometimes i need to vent, i really need a punching bag that i can take out my frustrations on,
yeah luch he got me work but i think i fulfilled his needs when i figured out his block off plate crises, drove 2 hours round trip and pulled the heads and re-magged them and then re-installed....btw, the work he got me was another towboat captain, you remember, the Volvo trans with no oil? Dewey Cheatum on Howe advised me to not even reply anymore to this azzhole...
needless to say that he still owes me 400 clams and last October he got his arm caught (or lets say body) in a lathe and it really fd him up.
I do make mistakes, im not perfect, but im sick of paying for other mistkes

whit, thats 72, with the stick against the firewall....you gotta build these bulletproof, i could only spin that wheel at 3900 because of prop size and thats where he keeps it when towing

In my opinion the only thing that can sustain W.O.T. 100% is a weed eater.

If you had done somthing wrong it would have showed up early on (in the first few tows). I know I know ~ just venting not problem solving.

Used correctly the big block chev is up to the task. But Not even an Anvil is invenciable to an idiot... and it sounds like this guy could kill one of those too. With that type of work load I can't help but think he bought the wrong boat. Sounds like a commercial diesel would better suit his needs.

You know a heat horn followed by a high temp switch wired into a fuel cut switch would get his attention. Most modern day automotive units have a nanny built into the computer to cut fuel or kill cyls and retard timing with high temps.
