I am looking into a new prop for my birthday. I do a lot of slalom and barefooting too. Family skis and boards also.
I have the 1:23 power plus tranny and wondered if anyone else has used these prop on this tranny? If so: Which one and: What is the top RPMs now? What is your top end now? Did it help soften/flatten the slalom wake any? At what line lengths? How is the wake for boarding? Any change? Any other props that are hot for the 1:23? Thanks for your help~! |

The props you mention are for earlier nautiques that run the 1:1 transmission. I would expect you to turn too many RPMs with either of them.
The early-mid 90's Nautiques with the 1.23:1 tranny came with a 14x16 3 blade prop. The acme 422 is a 12.5x15.5 inch 4-blade that works very well. We noticed more smoothness, better holeshot, and slightly higher top speed in our 92 SN with this prop- great improvements. Call acme or Discount Inboard Marine and see what they can recommend for a similar prop in a 3 blade for your specific boat- they are supposed to be even better. |

Got off the phone with AMCE they recommended the 3 blade 612~! I will go that route for my b-day~!
They said the 422 would get about 1-2 mph better top end and the 612 would pick up another 1 or 2. Better wakes all the way around. Sounds cool to me~!!!!!! |

Out of curiousity, what year boat/motor combo do you have?
Our 92 Ski Nautique originally had the base engine, pro-tec ignition (255 hp?) and 1.23 tranny. We added the GT40 heads and upgraded the computer, so it was almost a proboss motor(~285 hp?). I believe it ran ~47-48 around 4800+ RPM with the acme 422. I dont remember exactly what it ran prior to that with the OJ 4 blade or the stock 3 blade before that. I do remember that we gained as much from the acme as we did from the heads! I assume the 612 has similar dimensons as the 422... share your exact set up and compare top speed/max rpm before and after you switch, if you dont mind! |

I have a 89 ski, 240 hp with the 1.23. I added a Acme 612 about a month ago. I got a better hole shot but lost 1-2 mph at WOT. I can pull three large deep water starters up without any problem.

Shredhead: so you lost top end. Acme said they would recup (free) to get the boat to run up to 50mph without loosing bottem end That would mean buying from them at 369.00. May be worth the extra money just to have them make my boat run faster. They swore at least 2-3mph over stock prop. What prop were you running before? What was your top speed before? and after? How about rpms before? After? When you say 3 deap water starters are you talking barefoot? That would be very impressive~! How is the slalom wake? Board wake? Any motor mods?

Yes, we mostly barefoot and wakeboard behind my boat. My buds all have much never boats that we usually ski behind, so I haven't skied behind mine since prop change.
I had a stock prop, that had a few minor dings. I had heard about the new acme props, so I gave them a call. Stock prop: 47-48 @ 4600rpms. Amce 612: 45-46 @ 4800rpms. The new prop holds speed a little better and I can still get 42+ pulling double footers. No mods on the engine, but she runs strong. My 89 has always been the fastest in our ski group, most have 95-2003 Ski Nautiques, probobly because of the narrow hull. The wakeboard wake is good, but I don't weight the boat, I just fill it up with kids. |

Shredhead,
Acme says on my 351 max rpm should still be around 44-4500. Sounds like you could use the cup job and get more mph and less rpms. I think I will have them do my new prop before they send it. I am getting 46-47 @ 4500 wot. |

I recently used the Acme 540 on 1986 Nautique with a 1:1 transmission (went from stock to Acme 540). Results were great, with a 1-2mph gain in top speed and a very nice hole shot. The wake is also a hair softer. I bought/received it about a week ago. I highly recommend the Acme prop.

I have a 1989 SN with the 1:23 tranny. I recently bought a new prop and was advised by Acme to get a 3 blade 470. I did and I love it. Better hole shot and more top end. I would highly recommend the 470 for a 1:23 tranny.

Steve, I'd like to hear more about the 540. We have an '88 and are looking for a little extra on the top end for barefooting but don't want to sacrifice much low down (occasionally wakeboard).
