    Posted: November-10-2011 at 5:09pm
I want to replace the interior on my 2000 Pro Air this winter, but there is one piece that I don't know what to do with: the panel next to the driver's seat. I'm not even sure what its made out of, probably molded rubber or plastic? I bought the boat last summer, and I can tell that 10+ years of sun damage and arm-resting have just worn it down. The top especially is warped, faded, and drying out (the little puddle in the second image illustrates that the best). Whenever I try to clean it or scrub it in any way it feels like I'm scraping the material away.

So where (or how) do I get a new one of these? You can see from the pictures that there is a lot going on in this panel: kill switch, speaker, throttle, gauges, capacity plate, cupholder, stereo head unit, 12V outlet, and ballast knobs. The condition its in makes it one of my least favorite things about my boat...has anyone tried to replace one of these, or similar, before? I checked White Lake and N3's websites but didn't see anything.

You could try one of the aerosol sprays made for vinyl. I'd get the panel off and clean it up real good. It may give you a couple more years! The part looks expensive!!

Yeah, no kidding. My problem is that even if I get it cleaned up right, it will still be warped. I would hate to go through the expense of replacing all the skins and carpet and still have a huge eyesore right where I spend most of my time.

I did some poking around their site as well...looks like they have every interior part except that one. Its so specialized and weirdly shaped that I can't imagine very many places will have it.

Hmm I know they dont list on their site but maybe you should ask them if they have or know where to get. I know they dont show everything on their site. I bet it will be expensive.

Take it to a good auto interior guy. They can build that area back up, redye the vinyl and reattach it...

huh...that's a really good idea. And one that I would not in a million years have had on my own. Thanks Dave.

Have you had that job done before?

I know there are some amish guys that live in the berlin/sugarcreek area that are supposed to be very good at uphosterly. I dont have any contact info though. Not like they would have a phone anyway.

You should spend most of your time at the rope handle behind the boat.

haha, good point, and I do spend as much time there as I can, but I've also started to teach my buddies to enjoy that spot too, so somebody has to make the boat go forward for them.

No but I've seen interiors put together for Hot rods and they can do amazing things with foam and custom substrates. Worth a try anyway.. Good Luck...

I can give you some amish hookups.

Does that part have vinyl on it? My guess is it is thermoformed and then covered with vinyl.

I'm really not sure, I'm kindof an idiot when it comes to stuff like that. Could be vinyl, or it could be rubber...whatever it is feels pretty solid and rigid.

Is there anyone else on here who's smarter than me and has a 2000 that can weigh in? Actually, looking through the brochures, I can't tell on the '99, but it looks like they used the same material up to 2005 (maybe?) so anywhere from 2000 to '05 should be the same thing.

I don't have one, but I always thought that was vinyl with little or no padding, like the dash in my 93.   That dip might just be the padding moved from someone resting their arm there.   If that's what it is it will take someone good to get that redone smooth with all those curves.

I think you're right about the dip Don. I know when I have my hand on the throttle my arm rests right there too. Probably just a function of repeated contact and weight over time.

The biggest problem now is that its already in winter storage so I can't do anything to it until at least April...man I hate winter in Ohio...
