Lost one of the plastic covers of the transom lift rings. Looks like it was brittle and was washed away.
Is there a place I could find a replacement or should i leave it like this?
I might remove the other....seems like having the open hole in the platform increased the exhaust noise!

I think that's the only reason those covers are there, to keep the fumes from drifting up the transom.

I almost wanted to remove mine, so I could use the lift rings for tying down to the trailer more easily, but was advised to leave them in place. I guess it's better to strap to the swim platform bracket instead.

The purpose of those cups is, as you thought, to protect passengers from fumes (CO). CC added several measures to prevent fumes from getting back into the passenger compartment in 1990- including those cups, weatherstripping at the platform edge, and plexi-covers over the slats (which morphed into a solid platform for 1991). Really though, I cant see how you'd be creating a more dangerous situation than what existed on all boats they built with slatted platforms between 1978 and 1989. Not to mention all the boats that were *gasp* built without platforms prior to that.

I took my plexi covers off my platform and will remove the cups eventually too... but of course, I like to live dangerously!
