Last year we all posted the items they bring, seemed to work, let's try it again..This is for the cookout on Saturday nite after Mr. Ralph's presentation.
We also will need oil, charcoal, fries. We fed about 85 people last year, thanks to every ones contributions. It will be bigger and better this year....See Ya in March.

Yep, and I didnt figure it would go unnoticed . Like I said last year they are my go-to item to bring along to a long distance party - and being being from 1200 miles makes hauling a smoker or baking supplies less than ideal.

Hey Doc, I know that people will have lots of stuff to cook on the grill. I want to bring my turkey fryer and fry a turkey or two. I'll also bring a whole bunch of fries that I'll do up for people to enjoy with whatever every's doing on the grills. Are there any restrictions at Parrimores about having a turkey fryer? I know that can find a nice spot to set it up but I don't know how they'll feel about that. My biggest issue is that I would like to be able to use some freezer and fridge space in somebodys place to keep the goods. I just don't know that I would trust a turkey to sit in a cooler for a couple days before it gets cooked. That's just a ticket to disaster that I want to avoid. So as long as we can safely keep a bird cool and numerous bags of frys frozen, I'll be able to provide people with some real good eatin'.
When people run down to the lake to see what's making that noise, you've succeeded.

Has anyone put together a list of "basics" that people who are flying in can contribute? Plates, cups, utensils, beverages, etc... anything that can be picked up relatively easily, but doesnt require much prep?

Guys,

There is a small grocery store in Astor. It has about everything we would need if you need to pickup something after flying in. They do have cold adult beverages. It is above the Blackwater Inn Resturant.

FYI,

Cokes, Diet Cokes, Water, these all will be needed...We ran out of plates and forks last year. Hard to say how many will stay for the dinner afterwards.
We fed quite a large group last year, Look at the list and post the items you will be bringing. Post a question if needed.....

Just a few ideas

Baked beans
Coleslaw
sleeves of solo cups
cookies, brownies, desserts etc
maybe some of those single serve bags of chips for those who don't want fries
Out of towners who fly in (uhh,Timmy you Malisa making the trip?) splurge for bags of ice for drinks
maybe a few more chime in on Burgers so it's not a heavy expense to those bringing meat products.

FYI... for those of you attending we had many folks hang around till late Sunday afternoon into Monday so if there is plenty to go around then a repeat of cookout stuff for Sunday lunch will probably be in order. In keeping with SJRR bylaws there IS no plan but it is food for thought.. No pun intended

Okay Fans we are heading into the home stretch of this little gathering that is turning into quite a huge one. That being said we need to update the grocery list. Those of you who are coming and haven't posted what you're bringing then now is the time to do so. Here is what we got so far......

Boat dr/ Karen - Deer Burgers
Morfoot - Coconut & Carrot Cake
Donald and Father...Chicken Filets for Grill.
bhectus (Bret & Stacey) - Brats
Joeinny - Hot dogs
JMurph - Hotdog and Hamburger buns.
Bud Sellers - Plates, utensils, and napkins
Backfoot (Eddie)- Turkeys, fries and turkey fryer. Yes, that's turkeys with an "S" to fry. That'll help feed a lot people!!!
The Godfather- will bring the fire, I mean charcoal
Joe C - black bean and rice salad
sweet77 - Bubba burgers and a desert
Gary S - Plates, cups and utensils (solo cups Gary!)
storm34 - Condiments (ie lettuce,mustard,ketchup,pickles,onions,tomato's)
TRBenj - Ice

So here is what we still need, so sign up......

Chips
Bottled WATER
More Sweet stuff and I don't mean Halston
Soda either 2 liters or 12 packs your choice.

Looks like this is gonna be the biggest river run we've had yet and we don't want anyone to go hungry so bring what you can and if we have leftovers we'll do it again on Sunday afternoon before the mass exodus for those who ain't sticking round till Monday.

I will get with Eddie and BJ to see if they are bringing Oil for the fryers or if someone needs to bring a few gallons for the fryers. So that it isn't all on them.

Looking forward to it!
