Hi everybody!
2010 Nautique 200 CB, 409hp, 380hrs. Yesterday after pulling a first set of slalom, I engaged forward and nothing happened. I noticed the cable was not engaging the transmission all the way, I tied the cable and the boat engaged forward but I felt the transmition began to slip when accelerating the boat. I changed the oil, it looked fine, no water or other debris. I changed the position of the cable support in order to get a complete transmission engaging, with no gap at all. I tried it on the water, it was fine, but after the transmission heated up it began to slip again. Any ideas? |

Alberto - Is your oil cooler working OK? Maybe it is clogged.

you probably glazed the clutch plates from the mis-adjustment and they lost their ability to hold under power. PCM trans?

Thank you SNobsessed! I will check the oil cooler, in fact I noticed the transmission was really hot.
Yes Eric, it is a PCM trans. In case I damaged the clutch plates do you think the trans would heat more than usual? |

Does Nautique still carry a warranty? What happened to the 5 years "Stern to Stem"?

Ryan, This is a nice idea but if the problem is in fact caused by plugged cooling that the user is in control of, then I'd be inclined to think it would not be covered. |

Although, if it was caused by the misadjustment, that's not necessarily user error, I'd think that would put it back in the hands of the company. |

your facing a kunnundrum, you are subject to dealer pricing if they deny the warranty, i would imagine the list price on the trans is up there....make a few calls and see if its covered under warranty.....let them figure out the details, drop it off and say its broke, just say its slipping and you dont know why

Clean out your raw water strainer, and water intake side of your tranny cooler, then drop it off and say it's broke and you don't know why. |

I don´t know how it works in brazil, but down here there´s no dealer at all, just a middle man who takes orders, and place them to the factory...then they work with certified shops such as the one where lucho works...
In the event of a failure, they will have the shop to take a look, and if in case the problem is under warranty, the "dealer" will make the claim to the factory. Mechanical problems, they can send the part and have it replaced. But hull problem warranty is hard to have it repaired under warranty!! Lucho can explain better than me how it actually works. So in other words the user its at its own... |

Alberto, I service the Nautique boats for the local dealer in Argentina, go to whoever sold you the boat and tell them whats happening. When a boat like this is under warranty you dont touch anything yourself, in fact, new boat owners are a pain in the a,,,ss because of this. If you want to get warranty covered you are tied to their service dept until warranty is gone.
The dealer should have a qualified mechanic approved by factory to diagnose and work on your boat. They should step in and professionally repair or replace the damaged part. If they figure out you messed with the cable adjustment on the damaged part, they can try to void warranty and claim it was your responsability. |

search for nautique dealers
There seems to be some in Brazil, maybe not in your area. Talk to them first as they can work as a faster link between you and the factory warranty dept. I repeat, if you want to get any kind of warranty out of what your expensive new toy, DONT do anything yourself unless warranty dept tells you to. |

Alberto,
Hopefully the overheat slip didn't do permanant damage warping the plates and Eric is correctthat they are simply glazed. In ether case, you may end up having to tear into that trans. No marina down there that's certified to work on a PCM trans? |

I only found ZF and Velvet trans services in Brazil, do you know if the PCM trans I have is one of these? It only reads PCM, but also reads made in Italy, I know also it takes 1.9lts of ATF oil. I will only be able to post pictures next monday.

Look for the closer Nautique dealer or call factory, ask them how they want to proceed.

Good news, I contacted PCM´s warranty department, they will send me a new transmission ASAP. I am glad I bought a Nautique, their partner PCM really knows how to treat their clients.
Thanks everybody!!! |

Hi guys!
Just changed my damaged transmission for the new one PCM sent me. It was pretty easy, about 3 hours (2 men) job. I changed also the oil cooler, just in case... I still think the new trans is working at a high temperature, but after some internet research found out that it is supposed to work around 150-175F. Is that correct? The maximum I can keep my hand on its top is about 10 seconds. Next week I will open the old trans and post some pictures in order to find out what happened, probably it is not very damaged, as I stopped the boat as soon as it began to slip. Thank you all, specially Jody Seal who indicated the PCM warranty contact! Alberto |
