Paul,
Get me the starter brand and any numbers stamped on it. I have a retired friend that used to rebuild them. He said he would check to see if by chance he has or can get one.(probably a long shot.... but gotta start somewhere?)

I emailed the numbers to my friend, he said MDU 7029 is a Prestolite Starter number. He is going to check today.

What about The engine Room ? He has marine stuff advertised...

Yes steve.....i do believe it's a prestolite starter.....who know's why or when or if it came with my boat or not??? Pete...it may have been changed at one time or another??

I talked to Boat Dr yesterday and he seems to think he found me one.....he is gonna call me when he get's it in his hands and we will compare over the phone to make 100% sure it is the correct one.

Paul,
Hopefully Billy will find what you need.

I called another local rebuilder. He is wondering do you know how many teeth are on the drive and if you have a pic of the starter?

I tore the bendix apart and found that the internal cam lobes(two spring loaded nipples) had jumped over the worm gear to the valley between the two sets of worm gears (if you had one apart you would know what i mean)wich caused it to be engaged at all times. Now i'm gonna have the starter rebuilt, replace the bendix if billy(boatDr) can get me one? and he said he could, then try it. Also gonna replace the solenoid....billy thinks the solenoind stuck on causing it to drive to far in??......

Thanks billy for your help and wish me luck.
