I have not been on much in the past few years... but i want to post a question. We are looking to sell our 86 SN2001 and move to a V-drive. We are a 33-33-34 split on Ski-Board-Hang out... My wife wants a V-drive so that we can ski with 6-7 people in the boat. (She is just rec skier running at 23-26 MPH, I am good and ski at 32mph) Plus we have 3 kids that are under 9 years old.
Her issue with a DD is that the she will not let the kids sit in front when pulling me. Plus at times we will have 6 in boat and want to ski. I am looking at a SAN that i know will be killer for boarding, but how bad will it be ski behind? I am guessing it will be like an I/O wake but pull me out like my SN2001. If there are post on this that someone knows about please let me know what to scan for. On other thing. I live on a lake that the max is 21feet but i want to take this boat to larger lakes like Table Rock or Grand Lake in OK. There is a SMALL (1-5%) change i would take it Lake of the Ozarks... thanks. brett |

Maybe a crossover like the SV-211?

The ski wake on just about any DD or VD is going to be awful with that much weight in the boat. Put 6 people and full fuel in your 2001 and take a pass, that is a 210 with min weight. Subract 2 people from that and = SV211.

I slalom an X1 probably every other weekend with a few of my ski buddies. Not the greatest wake in the world but we're not trying to set any world records either, just out having a good time.
I think it all boils down to what level of skiing you're trying to accomplish. |

I own a SAN. Ski it before you buy it. End of story. If you are used to skiing 32 mph, I don't think you are going to like it. At 34-36, it smooths out and I beleive is better than your 2001.
Make your wife ski it. Sounds like my wife is a little better skier than yours, but she tolerates the wake. She likes the space in our boat, and like that it's paid for and has been since the day I bought it. My kid is 5. She doesn't know the difference. It's fine. BKH |
