Jbear just called me about a broken throttle cable in his '80. The dealer is closed today so he can't ask but does anyone know what length cable he needs? Thanks in advance from John and myself

Gary, just got your email... but to reiterate, all of the older 16-19' direct drives that route their cables forward and through the bulkhead in the bilge used 17' control cables for both throttle and trans. Have John replace both while he's in there. Go2marine has reasonable prices on the TFXtremes:

Thanks guy's. John's on vacation in Tennessee right now so he does not have many options but now that he has the length he can call around,I told him to get a couple of brass connectors too. He says he replaced the cables a few years ago,I'm wondering if a brass connector has broke. His son is there to do the repair when he does get the parts. Thanks again from the both of us!

John called me yesterday wanting the Docs # so he could try and get a part for it. He sure has had his problems everytime he goes up there. So far this year it's been a broken wire on the alternator and a broken throttle cable. He and Patti headed off to church across the lake yesterday in the boat and broke once he got there. Poor guy! It's always something. I did inquire about the trailer when he stopped and had lunch with me and who packed the bearings before he left. He said Eddie did so he should be in good hands. Just glad I wasn't trying to fix a trailer and a Jbear this year.

I sure hope he doesn't get that knife out trying to "help" change out the cables!
