seats rotting =(

I don't know if anyone here can point me in the right direction. I need to replace a couple of my seats they are literaly falling apart. It is so bad i need measurements. Its a 87 ski nautique 2001. it is the center middle seat and the next to the drivers seat. The covers still look new so i don't need to do anything with those. can you purchase the frames somewhere? Wow that would be great. Thanks guys! Hope everyone is having a great summer.

oh hollywood... its wayyyyy to late for that hun. They are really falling apart the wood just falls out when you lift up the seats its really bad. I did look at the website for nautiqueskins but they just have the skins not the frame part. My skin is in good condition its the foam and frame that are shot

Jessica, they are very simple. Use the seat as is to make patterns for the bases on cardboard. Then put them on the bases and make adjustments so they are reasonably symmetrical (make them slightly smaller) . Cut them from plywood and treat with some penetrating epoxy sealer and staple the old skins to the new bases. Don't forget the little blocks on the bottom to keep them from shifting. When you are done and you have them perfected send me the patterns , mine are rotted also.

You will not find the pattern. Another possibility iws when you remove the skins, you will see the base outline impression on the bottom of the foam. there may be a "stretcher" (divider material between two pieces of foam) that is stapled down the middle of the base to give the seat its proper contour.

arent all seats the same? You have the same boat as mine, are our seats not the exact same? There is nothing easy about boats when it comes to maintenance! ugh

I agree with Dave that even without the old ply, it shouldn't be that hard to come up with a pattern to cut new ply. Use exterior grade and as Dave mentioned, give it multiple coat of the CPES.

I had to do the exact same thing on my '87 SN also. They call these the "Observer Seat".... for obvious reasons.    My skins were ok, just the wood was rotted. I just removed the staples. Most of them were rusted away, but a few were still holding. After that, the skins and foam can be taken off.

The bases on my seats are thick plastic. Are yours the same way? If so, I have posted some plans that you can rebuild yours by. Chris (SNObsessed) post a link to a thread that has the plans. They are about 18 messages from the top. If you need help with these, pm me.
