Long story short, I sold my old boat to a buddy a year ago and I am buying it back tomorrow it is a 1997 Super Sport. He has since added a auto ballast system. But, when the rear sacs are full, the seal under the rub rail where the top of the hull and bottom come together leak due to being under water.
Has anyone had this problem and Any tips on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. |

The best fix would be to not load the boat so much that the rubrail is underwater - sounds like an dangerously overloaded situation to me.
If you want to stop the leak, take the rubrail off & seal joint with 3M4200 sealant. |

I have to agree here. Why is the rub rail under water? That sounds horrific. It also sounds like the extreme weight in the back of the boat has stressed the structure to the point that the hull and cap have separated and the seal has become broken. You need to remove the rub rail and see what is going on with your boat. Kevin |

Well, I went in the boat today for the first time since May of last yr. It is actually not as bad as it initially was told to me. The boat with the fat sacs full has the swim platform about an inch underwater at the most aft tip of the platform. Very little water came in the boat if any. He said It is where the top of the hull is put together with the bottom of the hull in the very back of the boat is what he described. My buddy took really good care of the boat considering they put 170 hrs on it since may of last yr. He was just giving me full disclosure on the boat that I was buying back that is greatly appreciated.
I use the boat for just riding around with the kids, so I doubt I will even use the $2000 auto ballast system that they put in that looks very professional. All in all, I am really impressed with the condition the boat is in. It looks like the teak platform has some kind of sealant on it. But, I can have that off in a day and re-oiled. I am just happy to be a Correct Craft owner again and will probably never make the mistake of selling this boat again. |
