I have installed new gauges on my 77 sn. The boat ran fine before, now I can not get the engine to start. It will turn over just won't start. I can not figure out what I have hooked up wrong. Any suggestions? I have hooked up everything just like it was. I can not find a schematic for a 77 online anywhere either. Thanks for any help.

Andrew,
Here's the wiring diagram right out of the CCfan reference section. You should have come here first!! Have you checked for spark? If none, I'd disconnect the tach and see if that makes a difference. What gauges did you put in? What was wrong with the originals? Is the engine a PCM, Escort or the OMC? Welcome to CCfan. How about some pictures of the boat? |

Thanks for the help. I did have that schematic from the site I had printed earlier. I did get it fixed though I had one wire backwards on the ignition. It is a PCM engine. I put new teleflex gauges bc the originals were worn out and no longer worked. The boat is very nice. I have pictures but can't seem to be able to upload on my phone. I will post them as soon as I am on a computer. Thanks again.

I'm certainly not the leading guage expert on CCFan, but I've got 2 boats older than 77 and am puzzled by the "originals were worn out and no longer worked". My 75 has all original still-working guages and my 74 has had a few replaced but never all....someone more knowledgeable might pipe in, but sounds like a wiring issue, not a guage issue......

The boat is a restoration. I have only had it for just over a year. The gauges had spent some time in the sun. I also had to send out the speedometers for restoration and calibration. I figured it is easier and cheaper to just replace the gauges. The wiring was fine all new gauges work perfect. They look pretty good too, not too different from the originals.

Sorry. I must have been too late in getting you the diagram. Glad you found the problem. |
