A little background on my situation. My boat was vandalized a few weeks ago insurance is going to cover it thank goodness. Now I have a new question. Since my boat has small cracks and chips in the fiberglass and I hate the color. When I have the cracks and chips repaired this winter what kind of paint should I use? I have seen everything from a roll on to a spray. I would appreciate any guidance in this matter.

If insurance is buying, consider having it re-gelled.   It may cost a bit more, but is going to be considerably more durable in the end... you can change colors if you re-gel and have something you're proud of for years to come.   Since the gel is already chipped, you may have to sand off most of the old gel to keep the cracks from showing through the new paint.

Edit:
since you are considering painting anyway, you might consider selling your boat as is, and buying one that already has the color you want.   Might be cheaper in the long run than painting or re-gelling :)
