I have a 2011 200 OB SN. The other day the bow went under a wave and took on quite a bit of water. There was at least 6” in the bilge which I pumped out & the bilge is now empty. The battery compartment had 3” of water which did not drain out to the bilge area. I got that out, but water keeps bubbling up through the drain hole in the bottom of the compartment. I’ve emptied it 3 times and the water keeps coming. I would have thought that all water taken on board would drain to the bilge? Apparently not as whatever water is trapped is still going into the battery compartment. Anyone know the cause and what to do about it? Thanks.

I have same problem in a 1982 Mustang and am about to glass it off
No real reason to have an operational drain hole there |

That is why I turned that box into a beer cooler and put the battery under the dash.

Funny to see this thread now... I was just going thru my entire boat and noticed a 1/2 of water in my battery box. I pulled the little drain plug out (that I just put in at beginning of season just because I thought it would be a good idea). I have a closed bow too! Must have been the day skiing in the rain.
Anyway, I guess it is best to just leave the plug out... anyone else do this? |

tlwolf - Is the boat stored in the water or is it on a trailer after skiing that it is doing this?

That is odd... do you have water in bilge higher than bottom of battery box?
Take and air compressor hose and blow the drain line clear. |

I posted the original question. I did eventually figure it out. A piece of foam padding had come loose and lodged where the drain passage was cut in a spar between the forward section and the aft bilge motor area.
This caused the water to build up in the forward section and eventually into the batter box. The foam padding was supposed to be under the muffler box to manage vibration between it and the hull. |
