Turn key to full on position and no start .but fuel pumps load up.
Hold key to full on position for 10 seconds and finally starts. Happens first 2 starts every time we go to the lake. Rest of the day it Starts perfect every time. Battery cables are clean and tight even at starter and starter relay area.

fuel pumps should prime at the "on" position of the key.   the "start" position of the key should be sending a 12v signal to the yellow/red (IIRC) spade clip on the starter solenoid.   It sounds like you have a bad switch, or some poor connections that heat up, and make contact when you hold the key in the start position.   Check the switch by finding continuity between the batt terminal and the start terminal on the back of the ignition switch.   if you get an immediate reading close to 0 ohms, it would indicate that you have some connection cleaning to do.

Don't forget the GT40 also has the old Ford starter relay mounted on the back of the metal plate just below the relays. They now call it the power assist solenoid.

When you say hold the key to full on for 10 secs and finally it starts, do you mean the starter is engaged for ten secs and then she will start up?

There is dead silence for 8-10 sec. and then all of a sudden starts right up running.

Sounds like the power assist solenoid is the culprit. The yellow/red starter wire appears on this solenoid first it is then switched by it to the solenoid on top of starter.

Make sure you have 12 volts on that wire when key is in start position before replacing.

Now post up some pictures of the new boat.

Did you end up getting a Sport??

So it is definitely not the ignition key switch?

My neighbor starts his Harley early in the morning and wakes everyone up, so I removed my Hull Hugger and let them know the little sport nautique GT-40 deserves a little respect.LOL

Poor Quality cell phone pics.

Nothing is definite unless you homed out the switch, however, I think lewy is correct.   Start there and see if that fixes the issue.   If you want to be sure about the switch, check for continuity between the poles.
