Engine goes to limp mode after 20,000 RPM. Runs fine prior to that. I have disconnected several sensors. this helped but keeps popping up. How many sensors can I disconnect?

Are there any other sensors I can disconnect and still have gages work. Guessing coil pacs may be bad.

email text any suggestions.

Still on the water all day today.

I believe the only two sensors (well, they are actually switches) that affect limp mode are the oil pressure and the temp.

Keep in mind, that there are a separate set of oil and temp for the gauges. The gauge ones are actually sensors.

Disconnect the two switches and see if that helps. Is this the powerplus or HO Pro Boss motor? Because its either 240hp for Power Plus, or 285HP for HO Pro Boss

240 HP

Do you mean the 2 red switches / buttons behind the coil pacs?

no! Take pics of your motor. There are 2 temp units on the intake manifold and two oil unit above the oil filter. Take a few pics and we can tell you exactly where they are...

There is also a knock sensor, in addition to the temp and oil pressure switches. None of them are connected to the gauges.

On page 51 of the PCM engine manual in the reference section of this site is the "Engine Wiring Diagram for the 351 Ford Pro-Tec". It is easy to find the switches from this illustration. If disconnecting the switches doesn't cure the problem then there is one other thing you can try before swapping pro-tec parts. If you understand how to use a volt meter then measure the voltage at the 12.5V breaker at the rear of the engine. It is one of the red buttons that you mentioned. Turn your ignition key on but you don't have to start the engine. You should read very close to 12Vdc. If you don't then you are dropping voltage through the dash wiring. There are some pretty simple wiring changes that you could try if this is the case.
