Before I start, I'm well aware that this may be a terrible idea, so feel free to knock it.

After thinking about another thread here about planning a small (non-reunion) gathering, and finding out there are multiple members on the lakes I frequent, I figured that I would mention this.

It might be beneficial to have another thread category dedicated to giving people the option to post a day they're going to be out on the water IF they're looking to meetup. The sub-threads could be broken out by lake or body of water, and started up by the first person that is looking for a spotter or sandbar drinking games player/burger eater.

I'd love to meet up and try an air chair, wakeskate, or truly learn slalom and would have no problem throwing in gas money/beer for that.

This would be similar to the Pulls-Give/Get page on Ski-it-again, but would be more broad to encompass all water sports.

Opinions?

Disclaimer: I have no interest in meeting up to tow anyone's kids around on a tube

Ryan, I think that in most cases that most members who frequently post and are regulars here have one anothers phone #'s on hand. I have most of the GA guys #'s in mine among countless others on the site. I see you're in CT and we just had a mini at the Benjamins place. Did you not know about it? That would have been a great place to start meeting local CCFaners and some across the U.S. IMHO I don't think we need another forum for just a hey I'm headed to lake so and so anyone wanna go? If I'm headed to a lake in GA (or any other lake for that matter) then I KNOW who to contact and will call them up and have on many occasions.

Tim, I read about the mini and had planned to go (especially after seeing the previous years pictures) but my boss decided that it was a perfect weekend to schedule me as primary on-call while he took vacation time.

Long story short, I have to wait until next year and will block it out on the calendar WELL in advance. Lesson learned.

My time on the water is split between NH and CT, so I was primarily throwing this up here as a means of saying "Hey, if you see me, stop over and say hey". I've already talked about Nautiques with a few incredibly knowledgeable people that have stopped by on the Lake Zoar sandbar, and learned a little bit from them. Can't say that the same has happened for my buddy with a Supra

With all that said, Monomonac, Zoar, Rainbow, CT River. If you see me, stop over. Still new to the community but will be at the reunion next year to bridge the gaps!

I think it is a nice idea too. You could probably do what you want to do pretty effectively within the categories the site already has. I would suggest doing what you want to do, then see if it catches on. There are several threads that have evolved to have a life of their own because they were such good ideas (craiglist, learning to barefoot, FAQ to mention a few). Maybe in ski, ride, foot or off topic, something like "going out this weekend" or something like that...

[QUOTE=Halvey] Tim, I read about the mini and had planned to go (especially after seeing the previous years pictures)

You missed one hell of a good time

My time on the water is split between NH and CT

Where in NH?

I've already talked about Nautiques with a few incredibly knowledgeable people that have stopped by on the Lake Zoar sandbar, and learned a little bit from them

Mark Mel and LFSkizzer (Fill) are both regulars on Zoar I believe. You could try contacting them by IM. They also like beer

Found out through another thread that bbishop1974 and DFoster are up there too. Might meet up this weekend!

Wayne, I'll give that a try and see how it works. Just dont want it to turn into a clusterf%!# that's impossible to make sense of.

Good to know, Mike! I'll be sure to shoot them a message when sandbar season starts back up. Zoar has been pretty empty since Labor Day weekend. Bad for meeting people, but great for wakeboarding/skiing!
