PCM vs Ilmor, what do you guys think? Big PCM fan here, but can't help to be curious about Ilmor Marine. I see they use aluminum blocks in their 6.0 and 6.2.

Mad respect for Ilmor Engineering. Accomplishments are immense in the racing world. Remember the dominance of the Chevrolet Indy car engines of the late 80's early 90's, done by Ilmor. Or the one off Mercedes pushrod v8 of the 94 Indy 500 that dominated with 1,200 hp, Ilmor. Current Chevrolet Indycar engine, Ilmor.

Don't think it really makes much difference,no matter who marinizes it,it's someone else's engine and their all proven designs. You might be a bit to young to remember but at one time Holman Moody was in the same posisition if not more so since they developed the complete vehicle. Unless you had them build one for you their standard marine engines were just that.

Aren't Ilmor engines different than standard GM Engines? I saw one in a Master Craft at the boat show last year and I think its displacement and hp was unique to Ilmor.

Yes, the Holman Moody years were booming when I was small fry. I would love to own an vintage cc with a hm in it someday.

I noticed the ilmors have less hp than the comparable pcms. Be interesting to see power curves between the manufactures. Probably a stupid question, but do manufactures measure power from the crankshaft or transmission ptos?
