Dad's stern light socket corroded on the inside beyond repair. Can't find a close enough replacement thus far. He wants to butcher it and I can't let it happen, I'm an original type of person. Any help? I'm sure the sockets common on most 70's CC.

He bought the Attwood. The Attwood looks like it but is actually a shorter surface area, exposing a screw hole on deck from the original. And the socket base is bigger in diameter so I'd have to make existing approx 1" hole in deck larger.

I was able to drive out the black plastic part inside that has the two prongs on it. I cleaned everything up, and re-soldered wires to the underside of the prongs. Once it was all ready, I just pushed it back down inside. Works fine. However, I don't know how bad your is.

We thought about that, actually thought about replacing the bottom part of the socket with new but that created another snaff-foo, i forget what it was now. His prongs are pretty well toast. Then I figured, surely theres one on here somewhere for less of a headache.

Yeah, that is a nice looking piece of hardware. I'd hold out; one has to pop up here from a parts boat sooner or later.
You'd think it would be easy to gut a new one and use the vintage chrome base but I doubt the plastic would match up correctly. Maybe call perko and see if they can refurb yours? Cocacola works good on corrosion. I just had to clean my 99s. Nice boats and Good luck. |

I just bought a 71 Barracuda off eBay. I will see if it has one when I get it. Could be a week or so though.
Thanks, Brian |

The style used through '72 or so is not the same as the one pictured.

The one on the boat I bought isn't the same. It twists instead if slides.
So don't know if that is something you would want to change. Thanks, Brian |
