Stringers on my 89 SN

Guys,

I tried to gently tighten the motor mount bolts that go into the main stringers on my 89 SN and two of them spun. Can I assume that the stringers are going? Until now I have observed no other symptoms that would cause me to think they are rotting.

Also, I have put the boat into long-term storage (multiple years) as I plan to make it my project when I retire and have the time to work on it. The boat is being stored inside an unheated garage in a cold northern climate. I did the standard stuff (drain block, RV antifreeze, fogging oil in cylinders, etc.). Not sure how to handle the gas issue? Am I better to leave treated gas in the tank or drain tank completely? Any advice on this or other things I should do for a multi-year storage like this?

I did double check and it was definitely the screws that go into the main stringers that were turning. Not all of them spun, but 2 or 3 did. You think bad stringers?

Going into storage for an extended period might be a great time to pull the engine if you have room to set it aside. It would allow the bolt holes, among other things to dry out, and you could make a much better inspection.

I worried about having soft places under the mounts on mine(particularly the front mounts), and that area combined with the weight of the engine felt like it could become a flex point? The flip side is CC didn't skimp on glass. It's likely a strong hull.

I also knew there were other places water had gotten under the glass. What came out in the end was almost gone.

Thanks everyone for the advice and picture. I'm probably going to attempt the stringer job in a few years. I bought a 2005 206 to use with the family and will keep the 89 2001 in storage. Good luck with the stringer job.
