The Roswell wakeboard racks we use on the 04 Air206 are getting badly pitted and the bungees are beginning to fray. I was thinking of getting them refurbed.... sending them back to Roswell or having them powder coated.
The aluminum was not originally sealed/coated like the new ones are.. so they are just going to do this again. I wouldn't mind them matching the silver tower powder coating as well. Has anyone done this? Polish and coat or powder coat with bungee replacement? Recommendations anyone? Cost prohibative? Thanks........ |

Steve, do you know Brian Harlan? He manages the Roswell Touring display, is a huge Correct Craft Guy (although I don't know his screen name on here) and a stunt man seen regularily on Chicago PD and Chicago Fire. Let me know and I will do an email introduction via email or facebook. He is a great guy and could let you know if Roswell does that kind of work.

Steve, I suggest looking into having them anodized. If any of the powder coat is chipped say at a corner, the moisture will get in and you will get the oxidation again. |

The surfaces are pretty pitted right now.....
I have an email in to Roswell. Speaking with them 2 years ago, they said that those model years did pit if they weren't regularly waxed as they were not protected with a coating. Waxing the board racks has not been on my priority list. New racks are coated, however. Dave, those years were Flight Clip years.... These are aftermarket racks. |

I'm following this... I have almost the exact version and they polished up okay from being neglected for years but I don't think waxing them every few weeks is going to happen.

What about buffing them up and sealing them with some rustoleum rattlecan clear coat? I used it on the speaker boxes and glovebox lids that I made out of Carbon fiber and it's held up really well so I'd think it would work on Aluminum.
