Finally got around to disassembling the carb on my '82 SN after purchasing the rebuild kit from skidim. Previous post about carb issues: Carb issues post. I took the primary and seconday metering plates off (luckily had a set of clutch screw bits) and found this:

The primary plate looks ok but i turned it upside down and two "pieces", for lack of the appropriate word, fell out. They look like they should not be removed as they are not shown separated in the exploded view BOM. Also the needle that fell out had a serious clown nose rounded tip.

Here's where my stomach dropped, the secondary plate came off and my main body looks like this:
It feel likes one of those globes with the raised mountain ranges . It's not just raised chipped coating, those bumps are actually hard metal. It's like that all over the face of the main carb block.

I feel like it's obvious, but I need a new carb don't I?
Will this one work?

Here's the part# of my carb for reference:

Holley.com 80319-1
Holley 4160: 4 barrels, 600 cfm, 30 cc acc. pump, electric choke, vacuum secondary, zinc, Gold Dichromate Finish, single fuel inlet.

google search for holley 75009
Holley 4160 is all the tech says on that thread. Could the difference be they changed the numbers as the world turned? My 4160 is a 50463 and used the same rebuild kit that is suggested for the 75009.

this thread had a -x question and the difference was in the primary jetting

Call Quick Fuel and order one from them. You get a carb that has Billet metering blocks and not the cast Holley stuff. A very high Quilty carb in any size you want and for any application and at a cheaper price.
