Cruising down the river at 35 pull back on throttle and engine quits.... just flat quits, will not start...acts like it is not getting fuel.....load on trailer put in garage...it starts....fuel filter??? By the way 1986 Nautique 351 Ford really getting frustrated.

Carl,
It sounds more like an ignition problem than fuel. Did you check for spark when it quit? Put a new filter in but I don't have a good feeling that the filter will cure the problem. |

Agree with Pete on potentially overheating coil.
Another possibility is you've got a leaky carb (too much fuel vs not enough). Cruising along at 35 your engine is happily slurping down the excess leaked fuel. Slow down to idle speed and it floods out. Then it won't start again till it dries out. |
